Yes I know its a bit early and a lot can still happen buuuut I want to see who you guys think are the 22 that we should send with current injuries to some players.

  1. -Guthro Steenkamp
  2. -John Smit
  3. -Tendai Mtawarira
  4. -Bakkies Botha
  5. -Victor Matfield
  6. -Juan Smith
  7. -Schalk Burger
  8. -Piere Spies
  9. -Fourie du preez
  10. -Butch James
  11. -Bryan habana
  12. -Jean de Villiers (I take it he will be ready for the 1st test)
  13. -Jacques Fourie (PdV says he is to play fullback  Him + JdV = best centre combo IMO)
  14. -JP Pietersen (Experience is what gets him the jersey ahead of Akona)
  15. -Stefan Terblanche (Best fullback atm)
  16. -Bismarck du Plessis
  17. -Jannie du Plessis
  18. -Heinrich Brussow (Just to damn good not to pick)
  19. -Danie Rossouw (He can play lock, 8th man or flanker but I have a feeling Kanko will get this slot)
  20. -Wynand Olivier (Rather adi jacobs if he recovers in time) / Ruan Pienaar
  21. -Rory Kocket (will increase the pace in the last 20-15 mins, also a kicker if butch is having a bad day or hurt)
  22. -Akona Nungane/Nokwe

Lots of Stormers in your team

Yeah its cause they are burning up the S14 with their great play;)

Spies is another freak of nature. He burst onto the international scene last year with the strength of a bear and the speed of a puma. Just like the comic hero Bravestar, Spies seemed super-human in his ability to outpace backlines, outmuscle tight-forwards and generally out-rugby seasoned veterans.

Im sure stuff like this is written about most of the Stormers players :)

// Taking into account selecting overseas players i would like to see the following

1 - Beast
2 - Smit
3 - BJ Botha
4 - Bakkies
5 - Vic
6 - Schalla
7 - Smith
8 - Kankowski
9 - Du Preez
10 - Pienaar
11 - Habana
12 - de Villiers
13 - Jacobs
14 - JP
15 - Monty
16 - Bismarck
17 - Guthro
18 - Brussow
19 - Russouw
20 - Nokwe
21 - Fourie
22 - Grant

I would like to fit Spies in.....So Brussow might be in danger of the boot...Or alternatively Schall might move to the bench - god knows his form warrants some time on the sideline

I used your list with a few changes

  1. -Guthro Steenkamp
  2. -John Smit (Bismarck du Plessis)
  3. -Tendai Mtawarira (BJ botha)
  4. -Bakkies Botha
  5. -Victor Matfield (Andries Bekker)
  6. -Juan Smith
  7. -Schalk Burger
  8. -Piere Spies (Kankowski)
  9. -Fourie du preez (Ruan Pienaar)
  10. -Butch James (Andrè Pretorius)
  11. -Bryan habana
  12. -Jean de Villiers
  13. -Jacques Fourie (Wynand Olivier)
  14. -Akona
  15. -Louis Ludik

I need to still come up with a full back .... will think about it for a while (I would have given it to Janjies now I just don't know. As for my other Replacement, it will be that pole of a man that played the last few Springbok matches, I just can't recall his name now. Will have to check that quickly.

Bismark for Hooker, he is currently the best hooker, just not a captain so that is the reason he's on the bench.

BJ Botha - Obvious choice :p

Kankowski - Obvious choice, but also doubles as a replacement Flanker

Ruan Pienaar - for Scrummy, Centre and Fullback

Andrè Pretorius (Would select Francois Steyn if he's fit) - Purely just because of his experience. He lacks game time currently and is not up to scratch.

Wynand Olivier - Obvious choice again

* Will check those 2 (Fullback and Lock replacement) spots quickly will edit my spot now.

Edit: Andries Bekker is the Lock I was looking for.

Spies isn't that good anymore.
Kankowski and Watson are better.

Spies is better than Kanko IMO, and I doubt if luke will ever be picked for the Boks again because it is after all a team sport :)

Also the springbok setup is very different to a provincial setup like the Weepee.. At the boks they might be looking for a stronger runner and less of a fetcher type because they have 2 awesome flankers and a fast hooker (bismarck not fat john :p). All depends on what you want from an 8th man.

lol ?

huh ?

No ways. The only reason he is currently outshined is because of the game the bulls are playing. There was a tight game here and there where they fell back to the foward game they play so well and he rised head and shoulders above each and every no8 the world has to offer. That guy is insane when the game revolves around the forward pack, which in a test.... is what will happen.

don't you guys think Spies will be better at starting 8'th man, with Kankowski comming on as impact player, last 20?

and (no, im not a lions supporter :) ) but why has nobody mentioned Ludik, or Mentz? they look like the standouts of a very average lions team (and no, don't say its because they play in a team that sucks, then you have to get rid of all the stormers players as well?)

Terblanche is the on form man, Ludick and Zane Kirchner are just behind him atm.

Not Jantjes not there because of injury to his leg.

Ludik would have been there if there was another spot, I believe atm that it is between Ludik and Zane K (bulls) for the full back position in 2 years time(I am leaning towards Ludik atm) but for the Lions tour this year I would pick expierence in the form of Terblanche.

Transformation keeps them out of my team.

Mentz is having a killer of a return ;) I hope he goes from strengh to strengh

I would 10-1 field ludik if it was only the tri-nations but seeing as we are playing the Lions as well ill opt for the experienced mr terblanche.

Yeah he has but there is a big difference in being good on s14 level and being good at tri-nations level. I personally don't think he has what it will take to be a international good/great flyhalf. He has a bit of a bully mentallity, as was seen saturday when he got that yellow card and that does not help a flyhalf at all. Also he seems to have 1 bad/non-good game for every 4 he plays.

Maybe I am wrong. He has improved by leaps and bounds in the last year (kicking for goal, drop goals, defence, attack and line kicks), so maybe if he continues to grow and curbs his bully/bad-ass-wannabe attitude he could be the next bok flyhalf.

But I doubt it.
