Gavin Kelly, CEO of the Road Freight Association, told Netwerk24 that residents of a nearby informal settlement looted the wreck of the truck.

"These incidents happen frequently and it is concerning that this type of lawlessness is allowed. It is shocking what these people do to one another," he reportedly said.

I don't think it is going to be long till insurance companies require armoured glass and radiators to protect drivers from this sort of thing. And then the good people of the townships that partake in this type of thing will wonder why their mielie meal and pilchards are more expensive. Everyone suffers.

Back in the late 80's early 90's I worked for company that installed an armoured film on the inside of delivery and truck windows to prevent this very type of scenario (bricks, rocks through windscreens) the glass would shatter but the film kept the glass in place and allowed the drivers to continue till a safe place.
It seems the lessons of the past weren't carried over - idiots.

Maybe we need to go back to the days of stagecoach law - driver with shotgun guard, hence the phrase "riding shotgun"

Yup, Africa isn't for pussies i have ridden through burning pooh on the N2, that stinks a lot, especially as it sticks to the grooves in your motorbike tyre and smells kak for over a week.
