So they changed the charge from culpable homicide to murder? Why, why not start at murder? Just a pity the rock throwers are still awol.

Police are investigating a murder following the stoning of a truck in De Doorns in Cape Town and have arrested five people for looting the vehicle, it emerged on Tuesday.

A culpable homicide case was opened on Sunday and it has since been changed to murder, Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said.

His information was that a stone was thrown from the Stofland foot bridge in De Doorns around 05:20, causing the driver to lose control of the truck and overturn.

"The murder investigation continues. The detectives are working around the clock in an effort to find the perpetrators."

The video is clear this was a huge boulder. Bigger than a soccer ball. Stop trying to downplay it. Would have taken more than one person to drag it there and lift it. The community knows who they are.
Btw, last night there were 2 or 3 more incidents in the same place. Police are unwilling to do anything, but the truck drivers will likely get stuff done.
Personally, I would be happy if someone executed the murderers...maybe chop off the hands of those who looted and encourage this.
But hey...they are poor people, they should be allowed the occasional murder or looting if it keeps them happy, right govt??

Seven to appear in court for looting during N3 truck attack

Seven people are expected to appear in the Howick Magistrate court this week in connection with another attack on trucks on the N3 on Sunday night.

Those arrested aged between 21 and 30 are said to be residents of the Zuzokuhle informal settlement in Howick.

Netwerk24 reported that at 12h , 15 of the at least 1000 smart TVs that were stolen from the truck at De Doorns today , 7 November 2019 , were found at some of the nearby houses - NOBODY was arrested though ! The inside of the truck was even vandalised , and the batteries stolen as well.

If you're suggesting live rounds then that would make you as savage as them looters,ironic actually.

The reality is you can't kill somebody for mere theft as that would be ethically wrong and legally be murder,you can however disperse the mob with some solid rubber bullets,you can bet they won't line up to loot next time!

I suppose soon the cost of nice things will just go up as they start traveling in armed convoys which is what is needed.
