“We identified a green book ID that had a picture pasted on top of the original identity photo. The photo of the suspect was on top, which made it look like it was his ID, but with a different barcode, name and ID number. We then realised that there were 25 more files with the same picture, but different names."

Does nobody actually look at the original document? What about the staff processing the payment or were they bribed to join in? What about the staff taking the test, or do "they all look the same to them?"

No man.
I doubt they pay attention to that.

Driver's license is easy to do man, a heck of a lot easier than forking out R3500. I hope they strip the licenses of all those involved because it sounds like they shouldn't be on our roads at all.

Explains the drama on traffic circles and school patrol spots.

There are 1000s more literate people who choose this option because "it's quicker".

For R3500 you might as well just buy the licence outright and not waste time with round-about cheating.

For someone who is illiterate and battles with English it can be hard I guess, I sometimes look at those KZN taxi drivers and wonder how they made it through their learner's. Someone told me there was an option to do the oral test for illiterate people back in the good old days.

You're probably right. Did mine in 1989 in Stanger. There were about 40 people doing the exam in the prefab building. 15min in I was done and walked out, followed by about 5 Indian people. Not a single Zulu passed.

Thats what I said!

Except I had no Indian people following me back then.

Let's just say not a single black person passed, it looks bad when you put it the way you have. The last thing I want is to raise the wrath of the Zulu nation on this forum.

You are correct, I can't change that as it was fact at the time. Don't worry as offence is easily taken but it's not a universal thing.

Can you say with utmost certainty that they were all Zulu's though?

No I honestly can't but I'll say 95% plus easily. It's like ForceFate always going off on kzn crazy, the thing is it's not all of kzn but localised to the Zulus. I'm not even going to share the opinions about africans from outside of sa on this topic as they are way harsher. That said I love kzn & the Zulu nation, the one thing they are is being extremely proud!

Yeah the examiners and other officials must have been in on the scam. How do they fail to check something as basic as that the person is the right sex (or is that gender, whichever one isn't assumable anyway).
Agreed, there's no way that a guy takes an exam 25 times at the same exam centre and it goes unnoticed. It's real sloppy work not to have someone on the inside that's able remove the fake photo's from the ID's.

Wot? It's common. The only difference is you don't pass as a fee is due and you don't pass if it's not paid ;)

Hammer - spyker - sommer dwarsdeur die tafel.

Pride is something a lot of local people have very little of.

I go off about KZN and not Zulus. This has something to do with taxi industry and political violence in and around the province. Sometimes this spills to other provinces like GP and MP.

Learners is one of the easiest tests you can get...
They give you all the answers.
Had to do the test 3 times in my life, once at age of 16yrs, expired before I could pass my drivers. Went again after military, passed code 8 drivers, then had to go again when I went for code 10. Not once did I get less than 95%.
Only thing that I know, may cause some to fail, are the ones who are unable to read.
There is an oral exam, but difficult to study something, when you have no imagery to associate.

I know someone who bought his driver's license for less than that.

He wrote off three cars thus far and drove into his garage door a month or so ago

If you can't read or understand english, then you can't ****ing drive on our roads. Period.

All road signs/ instructions etc. are in English and sometimes Afrikaans. You are a danger if you are illiterate.
