Hi guys.
I've a pretty good time playing City of Heroes over iBurst for the most part - I'll be getting consistent and ideal ~400ms ping for about 15-20 minutes. Then its as if someone hits a switch or something and viola: 60-80% packet loss, 2000ms+ ping etc.
Then, very abruptly 15-20 mins later everything's back in the green as suddenly as it went red.
I've finecombed my machine and I'm now sure it's not caused by some program hijacking bandwidth to perform online updates or whatnot.
The FAQ mentioned:
"Due to the way that the wireless technology shares timeslots on the base stations with all users connected to it, ping/latency can be very unpredictable."
This seems to be the most logical cause of the predictable ups & downs.
Is there some way to "lock" my connection to a tower/base station if I know a tower/station consistently performs well? I've been through the archives and know you can call someone to switch to a new tower, though you'd usually need a booster antenna if the tower is further away, right?
If that's all that I need to do, what's the number to phone up?
