Pirate streaming services under siege in South Africa.

Many of the videos I've on occasion seen online include or end with the word "Free" - how can I or anyone else determine if that's factual or not? Certainly, many studios etc. do offer free options and all over the place. Anybody?

Love them or hate them(MC) piracy is an issue.

True, but the suppliers have done this to themselves in large part - weird attempts (failed) to still demarcate the internet geographically, legit free offers everywhere, no actual legal efforts to curb the abuse(?) - maybe they like the way the market is working now, who knows...

Given that this article is absolutely written by MC and then given to MyBB with a brown envelope to publish. (It reads like a note to a company's earnings report)
I'm not sure if this is a typo or just typical MC making up facts as usual
Between April and September 2024, it filed 233 anti-piracy cases, more than double the number over the same period in 2024.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Irdeto the company in SA run from India behind the King Shaka Airport security tender, as well as the driver's licence card tender?

Isn't Thales the group that is allegedly behind the bribes paid to Zuma in the arms deal?

The same group which sold advanced weapon subsystems to Russia despite French sanctions. Yep.

The problem is that most movies these days are terrible. And you only find out after watching the thing. And you can't get a refund even if you walk out half way.

IMO IMDb.com public critics really helps with that, once learnt how to sift through the BS. (Not a fan of Rotten Tomatoes but many are)

When it comes to movies on DStv - still too poor a selection with drastic amounts of repeats over time, but now there's a small improvement with a few reasonable premieres.
Add Movies only cost R49 pm now though, so seems balanced now. Just not really a service to source movies anymore.

That said ^^ , fairly sure the people who know they're actually pirating DStv are mostly only after the sport. Maybe why Frikkie & co. are finally realising (or being told by Canal+) that smaller packages with sport beyond soccer are a must.
