Places to Stay - JHB Area recommendations?

The GF and I are looking for somewhere to spend a relaxing couple of nights away from the hustle and bustle of JHB, but not more than a few hours drive away (Preferably less than 2 hours, but definitely no more than 3).

Since I've never travelled that locally I'm clueless as to what the options are, so any suggestions? (but definitely not camping!). Preferably no more than R1500 per night.

Have you considered Pilandsberg self catering units?

Cullinan can be killer! Bit busy though so also consider Magalies. Pilansberg is a good spot.
