why are you needing my employment info?

To make sure you are not a fly by night and then we can't get hold of you.

It's not a lot of detail required and had no issues so far.

Here is the Membership Application form in case others wondered.

I must say I'm not overly comfortable with giving you permission to check my credit records and to contact my employer...

I got halfway with my form then stopped. If I'm contributing what I should, why is all that info required? That info is not required for an investment. Not one I've seen anyway.

I don't understand why it's required.

If I'm a fly by night am I not just pissing my money away? Doesn't make sense.

Why does a flyby night matter. Each investor/club member's contributions and growth should be tracked separately.

How else will you handle early exits or skipped months?

IMO the only credit and background checks that should happen are for those in charge if the accounts/money.

Thanks for the reply. The employer contact details are just extra contact details. You can just cross out that section that you do not agree with. This will also be discussed at the first Meeting, I've put it on the Agenda. We used the documents from PSG as an example and that is the reason why it was included. We are not going applying for any loans, so its not necessary for any credit checks. All the information on the application form will be for internal use also, it will not be made public, even to the other partners.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and the wonderful thing is we can discuss the problems and try to resolve it.

Granted. Each investor will be tracked separately.

Good idea that the persons working with the accounts/money should be credit and background checked. Will add it to Agenda.

By nipping it in the bud, before it even happens.

On a serious note, this is no issue as they are tracked individually.

As for the document -> Application Form

I want to be covered from all angles if the FSB, CIS or bank comes down on me about our members, it's a preventative measure and honestly I do not see the problem here that is a very standard form and it is also the form used by various investment institutions. This club is not a lucky go happy setup. A lot of work has and is being put into this to make sure we comply with everything there is to comply with and to ensure the members of this club are in it for the long run.

However as Padjakels has pointed out, if you do not feel comfortable to write down your Boss's name, Company and position then all you do is leave it out and in the mail when you submit your application state there that you have left details out then I place you in a special folder on the encrypted pen drive and when the governing bodies, etc wants information for any reason then I will forward them on to you personally.

See the beauty of this club, it can all be discussed. However not here. This is not the discussion board and I am going to miss things being said here.

For instance this document can be discussed in detail right here:
http://platinumwealth.co.za/forum/showthread.php?tid=3

Existing members will vote and comment there as well.

Everything that you feel you want to discuss chances are is already being covered here:
http://platinumwealth.co.za/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=20

All you need to do is join in the conversation and voice your opinion and then it will be implemented.

Thor, I think I speak for a lot of us: your forum is blocked at my office: Access to this website ( http://www.platinumwealth.co.za/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=20 ) has been blocked because this category "Online Communities" is not allowed by your profile.

As for the form, what do you mean its standard? I took two random investment firms and had a look at their application forms. Here' Foord and here's Coronation . Hell, here's Sygnia too just for good measure.
