PlayStation 5 Pro to cost R19,499

Thanks. Appreciate this.
Remember to add some additional funds for case, psu, keyboard & mouse, cpu cooler, OS and then some RGB while you're at it.
If not jolling on your tv a monitor as well.
Oh look, the R19k grew to R30k.

I will wait for one of you idiots to buy it at 20k and three months down the line lowball you for 10k 🫰😛
Ye, that's not going to happen. The consoles hold their value pretty well, just go look at Carb. Was hard to even find PS4 Pros for a good deal years after its release.

Nah the PS4 pro prices are just greed! I seen regular Ps5 consoles go for as low as 7k and that's like the proper disc versions

Just wait for the new RTX series to release and everyone will be selling their ps5 pros for good rates 🫰😛

Maybe so, but PC takes cheating to another level. Can console players do schit like see through walls?

I've had a console player on Xbox track my head perfectly through a wall at close range.

But yes, walling is PC only (and unlock tools too but those dont affect gameplay much).
But if you want to escape aimbot you'll still end up dealing with Cronus/XIM which is similarly annoying.

R20k to play GTA 6 at 30FPS.

A cheaper PC will play GTA 6 at 60FPS. 2 years later when the PC version is finally released

they said "closest equivalent" at the moment would be a 4070 as you have to start with the feature set that the ps5 pro comes with (enhanced ray tracing and PSSR) but since it's abit faster, the ps5 pro's gpu would be a down clocked 4070

I would need to listen to that podcast, because that would be a huge leap by AMD. I honestly don't believe that RDNA 4, or what is it now, UDNA, will be that revolutionary, though it will be AMD's step into competing with Nvidia's designated AI/tensor cores. Even where Sony and AMD can come up with a solution to compete now with not only Nvidia, but also Intel, it might match in speed, but not in quality. The question is, what is the cost? Frame times are very important.

There is a reason so many AMD card carrying members, have Nvidia receipts hidden away in their pockets.

I won't be surprised to see the PlayStation 6 announced in 2027, now that might be something special. Then they will have the hardware to build on with their models.

Yeah I'm not buying your statement. Here is a 4060 build with quality parts inc case/monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers for ~R20k. You can buy a Win 11 key from a forum member here for R199.

In terms of quality, it's not up to par with dlss yet but it's noticeably better than fsr.
You can check the DF direct special where they actually do their proper testing.

5600 comes with cooler so don't need that

Yup it does. I have this cooler and CPU temps dropped 15-19C lower compared to the stock AMD boxed Wraith cooler.

ID-Cooling seems cheap but some of their products are top notch (like the premium air coolers from R450-R650 and the FX360 Pro water cooler for R1 099).

My GTX4060 and Ryzen 5600 with 32Gb CL16 3600 RAM and a cheapo 500GB Hiksemi M2 drive can handle Wukong on High... so there's really no need for an expensive CPU for gaming.

I can't disagree, it does look better:

Though it is game dependent, it is applicable to PC too.

Each system has its strengths and weaknesses. Just use the system that makes you happy.
Personally I will be sticking with the PC as I prefer the versatility and customisation it offers over the console.

I'm sorry, this is abuse. Arguments are down the hall

I think for some people this does matter as it's a far more versatile piece of hardware.

If you only have a budget for one of these things then you need to make a choice between a luxury entertainment product or a PC which you can also do productivity tasks with. The choice is often obvious when you consider that the PS5/console is a luxury non-essential.

But I agree that you cannot compare the two directly for pure gaming. PC will always be more expensive (for hardware) and less convenient for pure gaming scenarios.
That's precisely why its nonsensical point to declare A or B is "better".

Better for who? The non-PC savvy person? The person who owns a desktop already? The person who can't afford to own both? The person who is only interested in exclusives?

As you alluded to the choice is a nuanced one, not just a "Oh you're daft to buy A over B because X, Y, Z is true for me"

People seem to forget the main target market for this, it's not new gamers, nor is it PC gamers, the main target market is existing PS5 owners who want to play games with fidelity settings at 60fps. It's really not that hard and it's funny to see every PC build here littered with asterisks...makes it clear the PS5 Pro is not a bad deal overall
