Have one for +- 6 months now. Love it.
wife and I like entertaining so I have a gazillion mp3's on standby from borchelli to nirvana. "back up" movies straight onto hdd without decrompressing and don't loose any quality.
Only problem is a crappy remote and interface. Picture slides is also a bit slow. But then again I got it for music and movies.
Just a tip. get the biggest hdd you can find. I have a 250GB and its damn difficult to decide what to delete when it gets full. Even if you watched something 10 times.

there is input for an external remote , but I'm not sure how that works. i.e. where to get one that will work. Anybody that can help with that ? much appreciated.

well it looks like its got all the bells and whistles
The one feature that it is lacking is a network connection, without that you'll need to cart the device to and from the PC to transfer content :(

lol, then get one with a network port
Ah, didn't realise they had one (the local guys don't seem to stock them though). If the Mvix is anything to go buy, adding a network connection will double the cost.

You might also want to take a look at the Mvix as the ZionCom only supports a maximum resolution of 576p (i.e. SDTV = 720 x 576) while the Mvix supports 1,080i and 720p (i.e. HDTV).

Incorrect FIRMWARE version on HV0102B

Hi,

I wanted to updated my Playtime Multimedia Player to the latest version 1.28, than I noticed I have an incorrect version 1.34 on already.

How can I :

1) Reset to factoery setting, or
2) unload and reload the firmware version.

Your help will be much appreciated

It's a great little device, its biggest fall down is the rubbish remote control.

I'm about to buy one, what exactly is wrong with the remote control?

Has anyone had any success using a replacement remote control?

The remote uses one of those flat watch type batteries, so the signal is kind of of weak.

Otherwise its a great system, I dont even have a harddrive in mine, I browse the partitions over my network.

Note: It doesnt see network shared folders over 8 characters long (much like DOS) as I had to rename my "entertainment" folder to "tainment" for example, is this issue fixed by newer firmware?

I'll check when I get home. I think its the one above the basic one but below the one with the onboard LED or whatever screen.
