Hi all, I have a Motorla v360, the vodafone branded one. I was at vodacare today, and first they send me to mtn, because they said they can't do it. As I thought, mtn couldn't too, so again I went to vodacare (somerset mall) and asked them again. The lady phoned someone, who told her that it isn't possible, because vodafone changed the hardware of the phone too. Can anyone tell me if this is true, or maybe if someone did debrand their v360, how and where did you do it. I googled it too, but didn't get something which I can trust, cause I dont wanna brick my phone. Pls guide me.

If you go to one of those private cell phone shops where they do repairs they'll be able to help you. It costs about R50 and they run some software on the phone to disable the network lock. The service provider shops won't tell you this info because they don't want you to move to another network.

I know this because my brother-in-law owns one of those shops and he did it for me (unlocked a cell C phone to open network).

Thing is, my phone isn't locked to vodacom. I can use it on mtn or virgin and cellc, but I dont like this vlive firmware at all. I've done quite a bit of searching tonight, and found something. I'll download it and try tomorrow. Really dont hope I'm gonna end up with a brick....

Still downloading some extra drivers. Couldn't do it last night. But it looks good. Will post here if I did it.

I did it! I replaced the software on my phone. The new software is a apple mac type of thing. Vodafone is still there, but not in the foreground. I was a bit down when I saw it's not the original software, but its much better now. I'll search more to find other types of software. I did it with rsdlite 2.7, and the new software I found at http://www.filecloud.com/files/file.php?user_file_id=268508 And a lot of info at http://yuetblog.blogspot.com/2006/06/how-to-flash-v360.html and also at http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic19729.html . I wanted to backup the old software with flashbackup which I found at motomodders, but the program just keeps on freezing.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. wish I had more time. The link to the picture is http://www.putfile.com/jacqvt . As you will see, vodafone is still there, but now it's more like a application, or "game" type of file. I want to do some seem editing, but thats not easy.

If you have another identical* model Motorola to use as a donor handset you can use this tool: http://www.motorola-tools.com/ (click on the Flash & Backup link).

You will need:

P2K Motorola USB Drivers Installed
PC with Windows XP
USB Cable

1. Read a backup from your branded handset and KEEP it.
2. Read another backup from the donor handset.
3. Flash donor firmware backup to your handset.

Everything that is on the donor handset will be transfered to your handset including stored SMS/MMS and GPRS settings etc. So a Master Clear afterwards might be a good idea.

This software will work on any P2K handset.

Your only problem is trying to find unbranded handsets to use a donors!

* Identical means exactly the same i.e. you'll end up with a dead handset if you use a V600 to flash into a V360.

ok guys, i'm a cellphone technician... 1stly, before you flash your phone, did you try and download the internet settings for you handset? vodaphone handsets come with pre-installed settings, they DONT work for MXIT/MIG33... download fresh settings and enable them, dail *111# for voda or *123# for mtn, follow the prompts, then set them as you default settings... it will work i've done it to a few phones. flashing is dangerous, not worth taking a chance... leave that to the people that know what they are doing...

good luck!

lol, i aint paki or indian, born and bred in ct! they here coz money is easier to make here than in the place they came from... simple, but very annoying, they kill the market for the locals cutting our throats around every corner, it would be great for business if the gov deported the whole bunch of them!

nice little device! would be much nicer if you didn't have to cut up your simcards! yeah that right you have to cut your card thru a certain section of the sim (gold part), very dangerous, 60% your card will be f#cked afterwards!

oh and it only uses 1 card at a time! you need to reboot your phone via codes to make the other card kick in... so from my point of view as a techi, i say, DON'T BUY THAT ****! you think it's worth the time and money going for a sim swap?

we sold these devices at R149, sold about 30 and about 20 people came back with busted sims... not very happy people!
