****....i cant even OPEN the speed test webpage.....let alone still test my line....but anyhow....here goes what i've got so far...

1) I've 512kbps line
2) +-3km from telkom depot
3) No viruses on my machine..scaned with Kaspersky AND Ad-Aware
4) Will wait for the speed-page to open, then i'll edit and put my connection speed here...lol

At last i got in...here is my speed-specs-->
"Your line speed is approximately 392.7 Kbps or 48.1 kBytes/sec" ( this was the fastest speed though )
Now you tell me......is it worth it to trust ppl like this?? :-(

hey everyone
Im on DSL 192 with "the un-namable T" ISP
Downloading at an average of 45-50 kBytes/sec
No lies - Engineers said was due to -
attenuation= 3
noise margin=15-8db
No proxy/cache in use

What does this means ? I did hold in ctrl and reload, to me this speed is rediculously fast.

it's an issue with the site... it does that sometimes.

Try clearing your internet cache

Edit: Posted this yesterday.... and now I can't get more than 40 kBytes/sec.... coincidence? or is this thread a way of Telkom monitoring 'installation' glitches? (and 'fixing' them!)

what do you think? Anyone have a similar experience, or am I just being a conspiracy theorist :cool:

conspiracy theorist! It's normal to get speeds better than your line speed, Telkom does this deliberately. I believe it's so ICASA doesn't force them to gaurentee speeds... but it looks like they're doing so anyway with these new regulations.
