Speed changes ...

I am on a 192Kbps connection.

Usually I download at 32-34KB/s from most servers - both local and international and my router reports 320Kpbs line speed (192kpbs upstream). This seems to be a little high for a 192Kbps connection, but I saw many people report the same ...

Here's the interesting bit: downloads can run for the whole day with constant speed, but often (not always) when the router reconnects after the forced disconnect the speed changes to 19KB/s max! To fix this, I have to disconnect, wait 2-3 minutes and usually the line speed is back to "normal" 32KB/s ...

Stanford test at about 9:40am:

TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.3.3e
click START to begin
Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done
running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 219.39Kb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 292.01kb/s
Your PC is connected to a Cable/DSL modem
Information: The receive buffer should be 202.21 Kbytes to maximize throughput

I think this is pretty nice non-http international throughput.

These people who say that their speeds are "broken" and "fixed", I hardly think that's the case. Any reason as to why the majority are getting faster speeds on their respective packages? (apart from 512k users) :p

ADSL 384K

Line speed: 20.3kb/s or 165 kilobits/s

Dismal isn't it? I'm with Axxess - could it be ISP-related?

I saw great line speeds for the first time last night since upgrading from DSL 192. But it didn't last.
