Good day. I am quite at the end of my rope. I am so tired of waiting for Amazon to verify my payment. It has been seven days and nothing from them except the call center agent filling in a form and escalating the matter.

I am looking for the following system:

Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop, 15" FHD (1920x1080) IPS Screen, AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Processor, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti, Windows 10, 82B1000AUS, Phantom Black

Can anyone get this thing locally? Where do one even begin to search. Wootware does not stock Legion laptops (Emailed them personally) // Computer mania also looked for me. According to both woot and mania - evetech has a deal with lenovo to have exclusive sales rights.

PLEASE NO EVETECH.

Help will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Good luck mate. Those AMD legions are like hens teeth. I don't think there are any available in SA. And to be honest, you pay a bit of a premium to import from Amazon. Even if you were prepared to go with Evetech, they are still rolling with over priced old stock. I remember seeing on Reddit that the 2060 AMD legions are in short supply and are expected to arrive around Nov / Dec, but probably in the US.

Out of interest, would something like the Wootbook not be a better deal? AFAIK they are pretty much Tongfang rebrands, so you're getting a well priced RP-15 locally. They are pretty boss. If they stocked the 17" model I'd already have one.

Hey man,

Just FYI: I ordered the same laptop from Amazon and the payment was accepted immediately. Just awaiting a date for shipment, but the shipping method is 2-7 business and they can actually honour that.

No available in RSA to the best of my knowledge but will covered under Lenovo Warranty.

Maybe try with a different card?
Hope you come right.

Also, forgot to say, the story about Lenovo exclusivity with evetech sounds strange... You can buy Lenovo laptops at Incredible Deception, for example, and Takealot. Not sure about Ryzen chips, though, all the ones I've seen are Intel.

Incidentally, as much as I loathe them, Incredible currently have an amazing offer on the Lenovo y740 (9th Gen Intel) and RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU. This model has great thermals, from the reviews, and is pretty quiet as far as gaming laptops go. One of the best gaming laptops of 2019, IMO. It's 32999, I think, and online only. Not sure what your budget is or if you're dead set on the Ryzen processors. My main criterion was quiet.

Can't get a 2070 for that price locally, new, from any retailer. Was overkill for me, though; I'm doing most of my intense gaming through GameStream and/or SteamLink to good effect.

Hi there, same here just placed order and was shipped from Amazon on Sunday (20 Sept), they using Aramex as courier. It was really surprising that Amazon shipped from their fulfilment centre quickly to Aramex considering the expected delivery date is a month later, the 20 Oct.

Been reading bad experiences in terms of delivery time with Aramex (unfortunately couldn't select the courier), know this product is sold by and fulfilled by Amazon but do the couriers, such as Aramex, ensure that when priority shipping is selected that they uphold Amazon's 2-7 day delivery time. Really worried it will either get stuck somewhere or arrive three months later.

Have you had much experience with ordering products from Amazon that are couriered with Aramex to quite my nerves?

Yeah spent some time dealing with amazon took me 10 days to finally get things sorted. What I did was providing the requested proof of card ownership, I emailed jeff@amazon.com there executive team after the 8th day explaining the situation and providing the same info to the account specialist team to them as well and on the 9th day got a response from a team leadership representative apologising for inconvenience explaining why it takes so long and activated the account. This was my first time using Amazon and after the seventh day I was fed up with it, but hang in there it will get activated just keep persisting.

Hey, glad you're getting sorted out. The first time purchase / confirming details can be a bit of a pain, especially from South Africa, but you've got to persist hoping that you'll get someone with a brain who can resolve the issue. The trials and tribulations of dealing with customer service agents from around the world.

My experience with Aramex was not good. The item was shipped on 25 September, from Las Vegas. Took 4 days to reach Johannesburg and clear customs (via Dubai) and I was amazed at the efficiency. Then, it landed in Johannesburg. Sat for days and days without any movement, tried to figure out what was going on last week Thursday, Friday and Monday (yesterday) by phoning their Customer Service division. Each time was given a different reason / excuse about why it hadn't moved. Someone told me yesterday that the package left Johannesburg but wasn't scanned into Cape Town, but they denied that it was lost (LOL, not sure how they define "lost" but go figure). Eventually transpired that the truck which left JHB was hijacked and lots of stuff stolen, including the laptop. Why it took them the better part of a week to inform me of this, I have no idea. I was only able to confirm this when I went into the branch yesterday, irate, demanding a coherent answer, and a senior manager assisted me. Throw toys, get result. Very sad, but true.

I dealt with Amazon directly and let them know that package had been lost. Aramex also updated Amazon as the courier, and Amazon are now shipping a replacement at no extra cost. Awesome service from them, not so great from Aramex.

As a final parting shot from the courier, *after* sorting out the replacement with Amazon, someone from Aramex Cape Town phoned me to tell me the truck was hijacked on the 01 October and they'd be in further contact to discuss the way forward. Umm.... told them I had already sorted it out, but thank you for the belated news. Would have been nice to know at and around the time of it happening, but I've learned to lower my expectations of customer service in RSA and just laughed at the inefficiency.

I do wish that Amazon would use a different courier, because they don't get good reviews, but I cannot choose that unfortunately and, in their defence, they were super quick in getting it *into* the country. Let's hope this one turns out better.

@bumbledore, don't suppose you've gotten your order yet?

I ordered the same laptop from Amazon a month ago, no updates on the Aramex tracking since Amazon shipped it, and Amazon customer service just says Aramex will deliver it by the 24th. I will be able to request a refund from Amazon on the 25th, but there aren't really any local laptops I wanted so I'm trying to decide whether to wait some more.

Just be patient instead of starting from scratch.

I had an Aramex delivery from the US take 3 months to arrive a few years ago.
Places are swamped with orders due to people working and being at home more.
