Hi. I am can't port forward. I have read about it on the internet and I still can't apply what I know to my router and it is not listed on any sites with help guides.

I am using a Chronos 4 port router from Genex. Please will someone give me step by step instructions for this router (I asked this question about a year ago but no-one had my router).

If no-one has this router maybe this will help you explain some things to me. If I choose to create a virtual server (I assume this is for port forwarding) I am given these options to fill in.
Public Port - Private Port - Port Type(TCP or UDP) - Host IP Address

Could someone please tell me what I have to fill in here to set up port forwarding.

Thanks a lot

Sorry. I have asked twice now.

I have done what everyone told me. I have set up the ports but the router still does not work.

Does anyone else with this router (CHRONOS) also have problems?(This would help a lot, a guide for my router specifically)
Do I have to do anything other then set up the ports for forwarding?

Can anyone reccomend a router that is good that is sold by Genex?
Basically I want one that can use port forwarding so I can use p2p programs properly and host online games (such as Warcraft 3) and use torrents.

Anything.

I have been stuck with these problems for over a year now and I'm getting VERY frustrated!

Thanks a Lot

P.S.:Sorry about asking again but I still can't get it working :(

Have you done something similar to the following?

I'm going to use the example of setting up a web server:
Public port : 80
Private port : 80
Port type : TCP (if you have a TCP/UDP combination option you can use that)
Host IP : your local pc's ip: ex. 192.168.0.2

What is the exact model of chronos router you have? Genex also sells surecom..could be better than the chronos.

what is your current setup ? is it just not working ? do you have NAT in place ?
if you have NAT you problay dont need to mess with port forwarding to much.

Azrael did a good job of explaining that part, if you want to go that route you now need to figure out what ports you want to go where, most likely you want to do port ranges insted of just ports. A entry may look something like this
5000-6000 - 5000 6000 - TCP - 10.0.0.x

TCP is the only one to worry about as UDP is not used on the internet much.
if you are still stuck enable telnet from the out side, post your ip and l/p and some one will fix it hehe

I have done exactly what tou say I should for the port forwarding. It just won't work.

I don't know what NAT is. Maybe that will help. Can you explain.

I have the chronos: Model Name: ADSL Router (For Conexant Chipset) (With small housing)

chronos AWGR-2 router

I have an Chronos AWGR-2 router and RDC and HTTP forwarding, just doesn't seem to work. the Router doesn't forward the internet ip to the local ip.

He might have customised his one. Sounds like it if he is getting other IP or not getting the default one.

If push comes to shove he must hard reset it, which will reset it to default settings or look for a way to reflash the firmware or something to reset it.

Okay, you say under lan settings, if you want to configure the router through it's gateway try using default or auto IP adresses under windows TCP/IP then you configure it and try it again, are you okes trying to lan? ;)

Edit: if that doesn't work, try lilDeaths advice ;)
