Thousands of LTE internet users, like myself, are frustrated, disappointed and by this time very sorry that we signed a contract with Telkom.

Telkom please tel us what is wrong with your supplied internet?
what are your doing about it?
How long will it take to repair it to an acceptable level?

Is there anybody that has any details about Telkom's LTE internet problems?

In the same boat as you....busy sinking. I had speeds of 70mbs max averaging at 50mbs. Now get 15mbs max averaging 6mbs. Logged a ticket to have it checked...3 months later still not fixed.

At times we had slow speed but the big problem now is that only certain sites can be accessed. For example I can access Google play store but cannot see my apps. If I then use MTN to see what apps has to be updated I can change to Telkom sim and download the apps at a good speed. But this changes al the time. Sites that is available now is unavailable later and so on...

It's quite pointless, I've been having this issue from October... And sent out a ton of email, messages on social media but still no help. I even asked to cancel my contract due to how bad it is but got a response with you cannot cancel and avoid penalties, will have to wait for a technician to come and see if it's bad then only I can cancel without the penalties. Technician phoned yesterday, saying his only availability in January

Last night I had no internet, was tower hopping.

Same here. LTE down in Bloem since 2016-12-6. When I manually force my Huawei B315s to '3G only', internet access is restored, but oh so slow. When connected to LTE, some sites load, as noted by Piet Le Roux, but most HTTPS sites don't. I emailed Telkom and got the usual canned replies about restarting router, making sure profile settings are correct etc.

It still amazes me how totally clueless Telkom is, and how 'customer service' does not exist in their vocabularly

I have an 8-month old problem with Telkom Mobile. Finally escalated to the CEO's Complaint desk. There at least there was a competent person on duty at the call centre who was able to get to the same point in the fault diagnosis point in about 5 minutes, compared to the normal call centre desk (who would after referring you to at least 6 other places ( 45 minutes) would get to the point where the fault is), and confirmed where the problem lay, but because she does not have access to the systems to fix it, has to refer the fault to a high level team.

So we will now see, because the next step is a formal complaint to ICASA.

LTE is not the only problem Telkom is having. Since the 6th of Dec, when I go to sleep, I switch off mobile data and WiFi on my P8 lite, and because of, what seems like, tower hopping, the battery is drained from 100% to about 21%. It is also happening to my wife with her old Nokia E72. Battery fully charged, with all data disabled, battery drained to about 5% in about 7 hours.:rolleyes: It also happens during the day, at different locations in Bloem

Mr. P to the K. You're not perhaps working at the "CUT above the rest?" ;)

Was thinking about buying an LTE router to use my integrated data sim with, but after reading this thread, I should rather save my R2k it seems :(

Yup, that's me (what up B?)

Look, since I got my LTE a couple of months ago, I have had no major problems like now. Everything was working fine and I got very good and consistent speeds. I trust this is just a temporary problem, and that Telkom will sort it out. :)

Ah, what type of speeds we're you getting with LTE?

I'm just keeping my options open for next year when I tie the knot, so if I need to mentally prepare myself for not having access to fibre, I need to get myself a B315 so long and get used to it :D

I hope this is just temporary because I just signed a new contract with Hellkom. It is worrying that there is no feedback from their side... like they think that if they don't acknowledge a problem there isn't one!

This is what a big corporate does... stay silent... deny there is a problem...

Boy was that wishful thinking! By Friday night I had to switch back to 3G and some sites are not opening again.....
