Eskom guards arrested for stealing diesel

Eskom says that two guards employed by a security company contracted by the utility to protect the Port Rex Power Station in East London were arrested on Monday for stealing diesel.

The suspects were apprehended while on duty at the gas turbine power station, a few days after Eskom laid criminal charges against them.

I suppose at least the criminals are being rooted out, along with dodgy contractor companies. Nothing may ever happen to the individuals, but at least they won't be in Eskoms employment anymore.

Until of course too many people are implicated, they form a mob union, and threaten violence in order to get their jobs back.

Security companies being the thieves themselves is nothing new.

We caught a security guard robbing the premises almost each night he was guarding. Here in Harties one company protecting the Telkom copper cable was caught pulling it out of the manhole with their old datsun bakkie. Its actually quite rife.
