Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said a lone police officer was hijacked at around 1am while he was coming from dropping a victim at hospital.

“According to the information, the police officer had attended a complaint of a person who was raped. As he was driving back from the medical institution where he had dropped the victim, he was accosted by unidentified suspects.

“At gunpoint, the two suspects pulled him out and then drove off in the police vehicle,” said Kinana.
The police officer escaped unhurt and called for assistance from the local police station. Backup soon arrived and rescued police officer.

SAPS is still probably clueless as to what really happened. Won't be surprised if they pulled off some robbery or heist with the vehicle.

The cop was probably drunk and asleep at 1AM, when someone took his keys and went on a joy ride...

Attending to a rape and then getting hijacked immediately after. Quiet day at the office by SA standards...

This does not compute:

"The police officer escaped unhurt and called for assistance from the local police station. Backup soon arrived and rescued police officer."

He escaped unhurt, then called for assistance FROM the local police station. Then backup arrived and rescued the officer. Holy ****. No wonder we get people who cannot communicate effectively and cause misunderstandings.

This would probably have been what the "journalist" was trying to convey: The police officer escaped unhurt and called the local police station for assistance. Backup soon arrived and rescued the police officer.

PS: I'm actually impressed they had a second working vehicle to "rescue" the officer. Normally when you call they have ZERO vehicles to come out to you. (Unless you say you just fired your gun and there is no need for them to come out anymore. Even do it whilst they are on the phone. Then you will see a hundred vehicles converge on you in a flash".)

The Source was IOL. That's the best you can expect from them.

IOL is owned by Sekunjalo Investments. Most of their hire are BBBEE washouts and domkops. It's actually good reporting by their standards.

I always dread any IOL link, the "You might like section" is some sort of click-bait reality, the title is always true to what happened and always baffling. One story always leads to another unbelievable happening, I maybe like others am still senitised to these horrific stories, at times even asking myself when will this happen to me or my family. Things are not normal.

This country is in deep DEEP trouble! Thinking that we live amongst such people might turn someone into a reclusive character, and is juxtapose with the friendly and sunny everyday experiences we have in this country of smiles and laughter. On a deeper level one might ask themselves where do these monsters we hear about suddenly appear, or are they in a sleeper mode within our spaces?
