That particular engine is very hit and miss, and when it goes, it’s not a cheap repair.

Friend of mine had that engine replaced twice. Kept on eating oil. It was on warranty though

Im looking at the late 2014 model. I am told that most issues on this car was sorted out in the later models 2013 and later. I am also planning on taking full manufacterers warranty till 2020. Anyone that drives a 2014 model? Any issues?

It sounds like you made your mind up, it is a good looking car and nice robot to robot fun, so you get points for that. Buy it :)

If you get a Fiesta ST you won't have to worry about all that VAG engine talk. But if you want German you have no other options and you seem to have made up your mind so get what you want that's more important than sense or engine reliability. Why own something you don't want that's reliable.

I only plan to keep it 2 or 3 years. Will sell it as soon as warranty runs out. As for the car itself, i think its well priced and it looks extremely good. And i hear a lot of good things about dsg. Will be the first auto i drive. And im currently driving a 3l dteq bakkie but its too big and bulki for me using it as my everyday vehicle. Miss my previous polo 6 comfortline. This seems like a bit of a upgrade from my previous polo

Those plans usually don't cover everything, and they often skimp on the cost. I think there's a thread on here where their engine went, and it's a massive expense.

It's a bad engine - spend your money elsewhere.

Vw factory warranty covers everything except trim and wear and tear items normally.

Can you still get a factory warranty on a 2014 with vw? The car would also currently have to be in plan to extend it.

You can extend it while still in plan yes. I've got a 2014 Vw still with the factory maintenance plan, valid still till 2019, but running out of kms.

Ah cool, wasn’t sure what options they had.

Engine might go kaboom, but it goes vrrrphaaa so who cares :p

I would rather opt for bmw 120d if you looking for hatchback.

125i M Sport. Heavily underated. Dont think you'll find one in your price range though.

Because they don’t make an automatic...

Of course your Fiesta could burn itself down and you lose the whole car, whereas the VW would be a minor repair.

OP how about a “normal” Golf 6/7 for similar money and you get reliability and more car for your money.

No idea how prices compare though. Maybe a Golf GTI is even possible?

Golf gti too expensive and i like the polo 6 shape and loooove the look and performance of this particular model. Was hoping someone here owned one and could give me some feedback. Ill most prob end up buying it. As long as its under FULL warranty. Wnt drive it a day out of warranty lol. Phoned a few guys advertising them online and seems all the models after 2013 seems to be fine mechanically
