Hi,

Trust that you are well.

in need of help here, can anyone advise if this circled part of the gearbox (refer to the attached pictures) can be replaced? If so, can I buy it separately or should I take in the whole Gearbox?

I hit a pothole and lost control of the car and the gearbox hit the pavement and that's when the part broke - just a background on the damage.

That looks like part of the gearbox, where is the actual part, because to me it looks like a machined area where some part was bolted on.

how big a pothole was this, was it a UN member state? did it set of the airbags?, as one friend of mine experienced.

No, airbags are still intact... but damaged 3 of tyre and 2 rims. Hand to change the whole control arm, radiator, and craddle.

that was some pothole, or were you driving too fast too see it in time?
ever thought of taking a photo and "trying" to claim damages from the municipality for the damage to your car?

Is that a chunk out of the bottom of the gearbox in your first picture? And I assume by your profile picture you have a 1.4,1.6 or 2.0 petrol 9n Polo?

So you are looking for a part to replace on a gearbox with a broken casing?
I was just concerned about the circled part on the 2nd picture as I have no idea what it is, but I am going to replace the bell housing which will solve the broken casing portion.

Are you going to strip the current gearbox and move everything over to another casing?
