Poor international speeds, ISP (Cool Ideas) or line issue?

Also on Frogfoot - while streaming as well, so dipping a bit.
If the problem were on CISP's side, I'd be having the same issues.

I'm almost positive you guys are having packet loss issues from your fibre line provider - I had the same issue when I first got my fibre installed and it presented in exactly the same way - full local speeds but crappy international speeds.
How long did it take to resolve? Did they replace the line.

Issue atm in my case is FF reckons there is nothing wrong with line...

I have run loads of tests for Pieter(cisp tech assigned to my ticket).Speed tests, winmtr, iperf. With my asus router, direct with cpe, cool ideas tp link router. On main pc and laptop. All same results. We are sure its the line as local speeds get line speeds but we can't seem to get FF to acknowledge the issue and fix it.

If I recall, Frogfoot also either said there was nothing wrong on their side or took ages to acknowledge it - iirc it took just over a month for Frogfoot to actually bother checking and fix the issue, up till then they just kept asking for traceroutes and other tests (similar to yours) and saying nothing was wrong, whereas if they just investigated properly from day 1, it would have been an easy fix.

On that note - I feel your pain - doing these test over and over again is painful, but Frogfoot will ask this information from Cool Ideas and if they don't provide it, they'll just ignore the issue - they also have to jump through hoops when dealing with the infrastructure providers.

@PBCool can probably give more information here, but Cool Ideas had to keep pestering them about the issue day after day until they actually got someone to properly investigate.

Good luck with getting your line sorted - since the issue was fixed, it's been bliss!

I know this is an old thread , but is anyone still experiencing poor international speeds on the frogfoot network?

Update on my own one, moved to Atomic Access who hounded FF until they fixed it after two/three months.

Now getting my full 100Mbps to London and Vienna.

Well to be honest we also chased FF for ages, in most of these cases it's an area upgrade waiting on metro or kit etc. If we had to chase every FNO for every bit of packet loss on a line we would need a seperate division to do so. TCP accelerator is finally being deployed in CT this week which mitigates most of these cases.

Just having opened a ticket with FF so they give an accedian would have been the first step, you didn't.

Going on to say how international wasn't guaranteed was another step not needed.

Taking a week to reply to a ticket was also not a needed step.

Not giving any credit when even your own tests confirmed issues even after all your own BS was another step you could have taken.

Yeah, chance of me recommending cool ideas in future is zero.

We did open tickets with FF, what makes you think we didn't? They have deployed a few accedians to test for us in the past.

No excuses for not getting it resolved naturally, we should have done better.

Being a FF network issue that they do not credit for obviously we can't then credit for their faults.

I am sorry you feel that way, but happy FF managed to fix it for you.

Then you request a credit from them, which they did do for me on Atomic.

The lack of any feedback.

But not in my case.

Yes, and looking at your support threads, you still haven't gotten ticketing up to scratch.

I'm currently dealing with similar packet loss on Vuma trenched in CPT. Over a year now of back and forth (hundreds of iperfs and pcaps) and Vuma have barely lifted a finger. While I do appreciate the deployment of the TCP accelerator, it's not a silver bullet. What about all the games that use UDP?

TheRoDent has organised to send an SD-WAN box for testing purposes, hopefully that gives you guys enough info to get Vuma to resolve my PoPs issues... as mentioned before I have family and friends in the area who also experience these issues and are already in the process of moving away from CISP because of it (even though it's Vuma's fault - they don't pay Vuma for their internet).

I would also ideally like to stick around and not have to find another ISP that have the resources and willingness to chase Vuma up on these kinds of things, but we all have limits to our patience...
