Poor performance on RSAWeb Pro+ package (100mbps) Ftth, Vredehoek (CPT)

After about a month on this package and as a new customer of RSAWeb, I am very disappointed with the performance of this package. I have noticed that every night, speeds drop to about 40Mbps at 22:00 an about 20 Mbps or less at 24:00. Tonight I'm not even getting a stable 5 Mbps down. Upload at the moment is around 8Mbps.

As per other's complaints on this forum, speeds to International Servers are a joke - 3Mbps to New York.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

Seriously considering cancellation and moving to another ISP!

I Have same issues with them.

They said upstream provider does not have enough bandwidth to supply to all the clients. Seacom is down and SAT-3 is having issues.

I have threaten them that I will take all my business away if it is not sorted when seacom is back online.

I pay for 1.1 contention ratio on my fiber, but it seems bandwidth is still being shared!

If the problem is "upstream" I fear the problem would persist even if changing ISP. According to some comments on other posts, Cool Ideas' customers have had better experiences but I don't want to move only to find out its no better.

I have heard all the fibre in the City Bowl ultimately still bottleneck at the Telkom exchange and if that's true, there is frankly no point in paying for a 100Mbps package - I might as well go back to my 10Mbps Wireless ADSL which was brilliant!

Looks good, what is it like to overseas servers, say New York for example?

Which fibre operator are you on? Openserve?

Then there is no saturation on the network, no IPC there to bottleneck either.

BPcool, what as the feedback been from you clients in Vredehoek? Just logged yet another call to RSAWeb and frankly I might as well not have bothered.

No issues on the Octotel network worth mentioning, so it's going well in all areas.

I am a vredehoek fibre client and also have poor speeds at night on a 10mb line and showmax buffered a few times per episode. We also have both neotel and RSAweb fibre in the CBD for business and they also problematic. I am almost convinced that SA does not buy enough bandwidth and hence we have bottle necks all over the place.

Home: Octotel is fibre provider and webafrica ISP
Office; RSAWEB and NEOFIBRE in building and we are on both with the same issues, poor international speeds.

update: 9th May was also a terrible day for streaming, I obtained 2mb or less and struggled to watch youtube or access news24.com
