Good day forumites

I live in Cape Town, Bellville area, very close to the N1 in an estate.

The residents and I have found "dead spots" within our estate. You can stand in one part, have full 3G, and move 2 meters further, drops to EDGE, move 2 meters further, no signal. We have found this issue throughout our estate.

The moment you leave the estate, you will have full 4G.

There is definitely some sort of interference, and its very very frustrating. (Thank goodness for ADSL :) )

Where or how do I start a process with Vodacom to investigate the issue?

P.S We have found this with MTN as well!!

I called MTN a few times about my similar situation and they sent a guy out to test the signal issues. He suggested an antenna of some sort and left. Since calls never dropped.

I use the app OpenSignal and saw that we were between towers... Right on the "edge" of them.

I got ADSL now and don't really care.

Call Vodacom Support, think it is 111.... and log a Network Fault, someone will be sent out, to see what is up...

I am experiencing the same proble however in Somerset West at Wedderwill Estate it is particularly bad, signal is strong one minute and gone the next.
What are the chances of a technician actually doing a site visit?
Can anyone recommend a booster with a range to cover more than one or two households?

Hi Luke.

Poor signal is a serious problem. We used to have those dead spots at my grand father's farm until I bought a signal booster that does all networks from amplify south Africa. You can check their website(www.amplifysouthafrica.co.za). I'm quite sure they will be able to help you especially if you want to service some extra house holds as well.
