Popcorn Tuning. Fashion or Fad?

Hearing more and more cars out on the East Rand with this type of tune. Some of them are low-key and sound kinda sexy. But then there's the idjits with AK47 zorsts.

Is this here to stay?

You get a 2l diesel but its much more common on a certain German hatch.

guess you havent heard a 2L subaru ....... put the right exhaust on and its sounds like a mean v8.Ive had countless people ask if ive got a v8 in my scoob.

My car has the "crackle map" as its also called. But my tuner doesn't like excessive pops and bangs so if you want it you need to be moving. 2nd gear will do it but ideally 3rd or 4th with revs in excess of 4000RPM. At the most it will make like 4-6 pops and bangs, but the final ones are the flames since my car shoots flames even without the crackle map.
Its fun watching someone sitting on my ass slam on brakes as a flame licks at their bumper.

If the car comes from factory with pops sure and if it’s done right (few random pops every now and then ) . I however dislike it when a car sounds like a machine gun or when the car “bangs” so loud that it resembles a grenade

Mine is loud enough to make someone jump if I am driving past them.
I might be a man child but I work hard and like to play hard. Plus she is tuned and built for drag racing, I just happen to daily her.

That's more boxer motor than capacity at play though.

ya true , cause most 4 cylinder 2L motors sound rubbish , especially if you straight pipe them (yes looking at you honda guys).However subarus with straight pipes still sound good without sounding like tin fart cans.

yeah the OP video is an example of excessive, I don't enjoy it.
