My car has the "crackle map" as its also called. But my tuner doesn't like excessive pops and bangs so if you want it you need to be moving. 2nd gear will do it but ideally 3rd or 4th with revs in excess of 4000RPM. At the most it will make like 4-6 pops and bangs, but the final ones are the flames since my car shoots flames even without the crackle map.
Its fun watching someone sitting on my ass slam on brakes as a flame licks at their bumper.

My car also started backfiring and smoking a lot.

Yeah it was more the sound and strict idle that does it for me.

There’s a stock standard one down the road here and I can’t believe it’s legal to sell like that.

Yep. There was one of these clowns that had a puncture and it seems when these tyres deflate the bead of the tyre pulls off the rim straight away. So clown stopped his car in the middle of the road to change his flat because he didn't want to damage his rim.
