Porn channels face new court challenge

Yet... you can get enough action in Song of Solomon.

Bet the lawyers are smiling on both sides for this one

indeed

my view is that the application will not ultimately be successful but the balance of submissions being in opposition may be sufficient to result in an interim interdict; the grounds for review are run of the mill but the crux of an assertion that ICASA did not give sufficient weight to the scope of opposition and the boni mores of society may well carry the matter through a few hoops.

Since when has public support, e.g. for the death penalty, or public opposition, e.g. against e-tolls, really mattered?

Well said!

+1

So do they ban their children using cellphones? You can get tons more porn.. For free on a phone(well not so free with data prices)

I doubt anything will happen as these channels you have to pay extra for to get access?

Porn is only on the tv :erm:

What is this blackmagic!? cellphones?! never.

This is so ridiculous. Porn is freely available on mobile devices and computers, most parents dont have a clue what their kids are doing on them. They're focusing their efforts on the wrong thing.

Perhaps that should be banned for the sake of the children. How much harm has religion caused children?

where does religion and democracy actually agree with? Since you want to bring the children in this, religion should just ban the internet as the whole as it's a lot easier to get porn there.

i'm not going to get into some religious debate with some radical. i do agree some religion is good as it teaches kids morals and values (even though that can be taught in the home). But do not tell me what i can and can't do when it's not hurting anyone else. if i want to fap away on my living room couch, then so be it, it's not religion's concern.

and this bull about porn leading to violence. let's look at some of the European countries that have a more open mind towards sex, what's the sex crimes like that there?

oh, but hey, let's point one more thing out, how many pedophile priests have there been in the catholic church? i mean, they do ban porn there and and get such wonderful results.

Read again:

religion always trying to control society.

That = religion.

And:

Since you want to bring the children in this

The group believes that it has medical and scientific evidence of the negative impact of pornography on society, including: being harmful to children (who will access it as there are not enough protective mechanisms in place to safeguard them from content), as well as inciting some men to sexual violence and feeding sex addiction.

Not this again? These prophets of morality are just so narrow minded in the fact that they are not representative of majority South Africans. Anyone who thinks of dictating to others is a lame idiot IMO. :whistling:

According to Cause for Justice, 90% of written submissions were opposed to the porn channels, while seven of the nine oral presentations were also opposed.
And 100% had nothing to back up their opposition other than their desire to impose their beliefs on everyone. Amusing name for the organisation though. I wonder why they didn't go with Censor-happy Whackjobs?

I strongly recommend checking what's on that paper after the hallucinogens wear off.

"as well as inciting some men to sexual violence and feeding sex addiction."

This from a country with the highest rates of sexual assaults against woman and children?

Religion was created to control masses, it's not a bad idea however you will always get the radicals.

Therefore it can correctly be called a cult. Scientology does the same, except they rob you blind in the process... but they are called a cult outright.
