That's one quick little Renault. Was it not for the fact that the Porsche accelerated slightly harder out of corners then the Renault might have gotten past. It is certainly very strong under braking and around bends.
Here's my favourite video of a little hot hatch spoiling the day for two sports cars. It features a Porsche 996 turbo and a Mk IV Celica having their own private little race when an innocent-looking Mk1 Golf shows up and proceeds to spoil the day for both of them:

Amazing speed from that little hatch, especially when considering its brick-like aerodynamics.
PS: Contrary to my thread about the ST vs 135i, in this case JK8 will not have any issues with this video as the hero happens to drive a VAG product.![]()
Bwhahahahah i remember this video, Here's two very powerful cars racing then out of no were this golf passes them..![]()
what an awesome video the RS and Megane ... it must be noted there is little difference between the 996 and 997 versions of that car. For a second i thought someone put a video up of my car, cause my mate had a Megane R26 ... ok not the R26R ... the guy in the meagne was def quicker than the Porsche ... but also remember the driver plays a big part on the track, (I need an excuse why the Porsche lost)
the same mate with the R26 then went on to buy an STI subaru, stock standard and is hitting 2:03's on kayalami ... on the day he was quicker than the E92 M3 that was there, modded EVO etc ... he knows the track ... but he will love this video ... thanks for the link![]()
...ignore the interspersed German - 911 chasing an Aston Martin on Spa Francorchamps; watch out for the surprise heading into the La Source hairpin after the start/finish 'straight'.
