I've tried a while ago to open port 3000 on the Telkom Marconi router but even after lots of advise from members here, was still unsuccessful and it seemed to be a problem with the Marconi. I've now replaced the router with a Chronos with a Conexant chipset and is still not able to succeed. Please help!!!

We should be able to help, but will need to know:

What you have done (step by step)?
What do you hope to achieve?
What OS are you using? What Service Pack (if applicable)

I can ping 165.165.167.247

What exact model Chronos ADSL router do you have.

You must configure port forwarding on the router:

Internal: (LAN)
IP: 192.168.0.110
Port: 3000
Protocol: TCP

External: (WAN)
IP: 165.165.167.247
Port: 3000
Protocol: TCP

The following info for the router:

BootCode Version: BC_CX82xxx_4.1.0.28
Firmware Version: CX82xxx_4.1.0.29
Customer Software Version: 4.1.0.29b

Under Vertual server on the router I've setup the ports 3000 (Public & Private) and the Host IP to 192.168.0.110. Where do I setup the WAN IP or do I just type it in IE when I try to get in from dailup?

Have just turned it off and retried but no luck. When I typed in 192.168.0.110:3000 from another pc onthe lan, I get into the server without a problem.

Then there must still be some configuration error on the modem.

Things to check:
1) Make 100% sure port forwarding is corrrectly setup.
2) Temporarily disable any firewall on the router.
3) Is the router running in bridge/router mode.
4) IP 165.165.167.247 not responding anymore. Is it still listed as the WAN IP.

1. If I'm supose to set it up in the Vertual Server Config then I'm quite sure it is right
2. I'm unable to find a firewall setting in the router setup
3. How do I check ifit is running in bridge/router mode?
4. After I turned it off and on again, the IP Address has now changed to 165.165.186.178

Well - according to the YAPS port scanner port 3000 is not open on 165.165.186.178.

The problem must be on the router, and not on the server or LAN. You also experienced the same problems with your Telkom router. And I'm 100% sure it is a configuration problem - rather than a hardware problem.

Doc - what is the exact virtual server settings?

Is it as follows:
Public Port Start: 3000
Public Port End: 3000
Private Port: 3000
Port Type: TCP
Host IP Address: 192.168.0.110 (Internal server IP)

ID Public Port - Start Public Port - End Private Port Port Type Host IP Address
1 25 25 25 TCP 192.168.10.254
2 110 110 110 TCP 192.168.10.254
3 3002 3002 3002 TCP 192.168.10.254
4 3000 3000 3000 TCP 192.168.10.254

This is how I have bound mine - works a charm!!

User: admin Password: root
User: root Password: root
User: admin Password: <blank>
User: admin Password: 1234

Fromb - Also add port 3002 to the virtual server settings.
3 3002 3002 3002 TCP 192.168.0.110
4 3000 3000 3000 TCP 192.168.0.110

This should also work on the Chronos router. Just get the new WAN IP after every reset of the modem.

do you by any chance have the dhcp server still running and serveing the internal boxs its ip ?
this should only cause problems after a while though.

what network probing tools do you have ?

are you on a stable ip ?
