My Cell C contract ended last night (YAY)

I want to port my number over to Vodacom. I was originally with them up until 2013 when I joined Cell C on contract and ported my number to Cell C.

Are there any documents I need to take with me to the Vodacom store? I will be going onto Vodacom prepaid, not contract.

Thanks

If you are on contract with Cell C currently, then you will need to provide the store with your Cell C account number and your SA ID number. This gets submitted on the port system to Cell C for authentication of contract customers. Once the port is approved by Cell C on the system, the store needs to issue you with a new prepaid starter pack from Vodacom, and then RICA it for you. When they RICA the pack, THEY HAVE TO FLAG IT AS A PORT and provide the cell number with the RICA details on the system. If they dont, the system will assign a new number to that prepaid pack when you activate it.

If you moved your Cellc number to prepaid the fastest way to port to Vodacom prepaid is buy a new prepaid staterpack and sms to port.

Don't make a mistake. First ask cell c to convert your sim to a cell c prepaid. Then you can port it yourself by purchasing a vodacom starter pack. Much much easier and faster

*wakes up an old thread*

I read here http://www.vodacombusiness.co.za/mobile/main/mnphowdoiswitchmynumber that you can port prepaid to prepaid yourself. What isnt clear is whether the vodacom prepaid sim you are porting to must be brand new or can it be a used one (and have its number "overwritten")?

To clarify I have a cell c prepaid sim with number I wish to port to vodacom. I also have an existing rica'ed vodacom sim which I used initially in a data modem but no longer use (i.e. the sim has been used, is active on the vodacom network and have a number assigned to it). Can I port the cell c number to this sim and so overwrite and discard it current number?
