Port to MTN Prepaid FROM CellC Contract - Advice please

It's been a long and painful 2yrs with CellC (first with Nashua and then Autopage) - worst mistake of my life. I have handed in notice to cancel the contract and convert the number to prepaid which will happen on 28/05.

What I want to know is, can I walk into an MTN store NOW and get them to port my number to a prepaid sim card? I want to start using MTN immediately and will just write off the remaining month and a half that still needs to be billed on the Autopage/CellC contract. I have heard\read chatter that this can be done and Autopage\CellC will just assign a new number to the contract to wind down the clock until cancellation on 28/05.

Can I port now and has anyone successfully achieved this move?

Best way is to get a cellc prepaid simcard. Let autopage do a number change where they will take your contract number and move it to the Cellc prepaid simcard. When they do this you contract will get a new random number.

When this is done just get a prepaid MTN simcard and sms to port. The port will be done same day because it will be from prepaid to prepaid....

This is the fastest solution otherwise you need to wait for your number to first be converted to prepaid before you can port....
