I haven't worked with any other SP than CellC or Vodacom, but I can say that Vodacom can go learn from CellC.

From the time it takes to pick up the phone to the system they use....

The Vodacom Call Center agents just lack common sense....I think I know more about their system in 48Hours than 90% of their staff. I Dare you to give them a try.....ask any stupid Vodacom related question and you probably get 3 different answers from 5 different agents.

If it wasn't for CellC reception in my office I would have stayed with CellC. Even when I told them that I want to Port to Vodacom they were understanding and helpful. They even followed up afterwards to find out if everything is ok.

The best part was that it only took on call and one mybroadband message. (Was in a hurry so I phoned within 15min after I messaged the Cell-C guy, but he did came back.)

My phone porting should have been done 24hours ago.....If I phone Vodacom they cannot help me because they don't understand what is happening on the system. $%^&*( It's your system CALL AN SUPERVISOR!!!!

Anyway just needed to let it out somewhere.

Yes. But Cell C need to step up their coverage game.

Your 100% correct.....Previously I used my phone for personal use only and that was somewhat ok to be out of coverage or/and internet, but now I use it for work. For work I want to be able to be on the air and have coverage for 99.99% of the time and that's why I went over to Vodacom.

For me in Cape Town, I don't have a problem. Have LTE everywhere except for like 5m at a certain spot where all service providers are dead. (road just before woodbridge)
Everywhere else "4G" signal.

Did you do it through a shop or Vodacom direct? If you provide the store with all the correct info for the port (account number, id number for contract) and your credit vetting is succesful and they have stock of the phone you want you can be ported that same day.

:wtf: I didn't know CellC had LTE.....damn!!!! Coverage Map doesn't work on their site, but would have loved to see how the coverage is.

Just phoned Vodacom again......This is the Time period they started with and look were it's now "2-5hours" went to "between 19:00 and 6:00"....24 Hours....48Hours....after the weekend.

I've read up on some of the threads here and it seems the problem came in when you insert your sim before your line has been ported. Vodacom disagrees, but I think they are gonna tell me to buy a new simcard on Monday.

Well I gave them till Monday 12:00 to get it fix otherwise they can come and collect their phone again.

Hi Ockie....No it was done over the phone via the V Contract guys....I was approved within 30min after I send them all the paper work. The day before I even transferred my number at CellC to a Prepaid number so that the porting can happen smoothly. Calvin at Vcontract told me that the Porting was done and everything is in order. I just had to wait for the handset....put in the sim...call the 082 1945 number and my old sim will loose signal and I would be on the air with the new sim.

Thanks to the Higher "MyBroadband" Power for editing my Thread Title....not that i mind, but a PM would have been nice. You can also delete the Thread if you want....than we know you have awesome Level10 Powers. LOL

P.S It's now 48hours and Monday would be 96hours aka 4days. If you would like to edit it. ;-)

I can see your port request, and it seems that it was not activated. I suggest you contact them on Monday as only they can resolve it, either by cancelling the order and letting you go via the store channel, or fixing it on their side.

My recommendation to people is ..... use a store.

Thanks Ockie!!!!

Think I will do the store option like you said.

OK. Phone the Vodacom Direct people first and tell them to cancel the application they did first. They system does not like duplicate applications.

Thanks Ockie....

There seems to be no Operational Procedure when it comes to Port Forwarding, because Vodacom Direct told be I may not go to a store.

They phoned me back and started spinning the same old story....."wait 2 to 5 hours". I'm done tired of this crap....I gave them till 12:00 to sort out otherwise I'm going to another SP.

Thanks Ockie for trying to help....just wish there was more Ockie's that worked at Vodacom.
