I'll be copying large amount of data from various clients. I'm going to get a new external HDD for this purpose but, having burnt my fingers before, I'm also looking for a decent, free antivirus program that can run portably off the external HDD.

The only portable AV I could find is ClamWin. I haven't used it before - anyone here have experience with it? Any better portable AV's available?

I don't know of any other portable AVs, but ClamWin has proven quite reliable for me (I started using it because whenever I used my USB in someone else's PC, I'd plug it back into mine & get trojan warnings, etc) ... since then it's been much better.

Clamwin's good. Just load on a stick and update every time before you want to use it.

ClamWin as it is the only stable and actively portable Anti-Virus I've seen and used.

True, but then you have to redo the file each time a new pattern file gets released...

errr.ok smarty but i mean at least the update is a month old..works for me,but hey there is another way with the software i have to can incorporate the latest file and redo the .exe again..

I never tried it but the tutorial and wizard is straight forward.:twisted:
