I ported my Vodacom number to MTN last week. Ever since I cannot receive SMS's from any non-MTN network. I can only receive from MTN.

I run a business and unfortunately I have a system whereby my clients can SMS me new orders and being "offline" is soooooo bad for me. Clients obviously don't know that I'm not receiving their messages and I'm guessing these go into a big black hole.

In addition I don't receive the verification SMS's from ABSA so I am unable to do cellphone banking.

Ive tried to get help from MTN but I get told different things by different people. 2 Operators said it was incorrect settings on my phone but this cannot be as I'm receiving okay from MTN and my sending out to any network works fine.

So far my porting has been one bad experience after the other and i can MURDER my husband as this was his doing - all for a free Tom-Tom. Boys and their toys....

Can anyone offer any help perhaps or had a similar situation?

I ported from VC to MTN and had about 6 months of people not being able to call me from non-MTN numbers on and off. It was only when Telkom numbers stopped working altogether that I was able to get them off their asses.

You need to get hold of someone in the porting department of your SP. I was with Autopage. The problem with me was with Vodacom that they hadn't deleted a item from one of their systems.

The bad news is that this was not a short process.

Which SP are you with?

Many thanks all.

My SP is Nashua.

This doesn't sound good at all. So the suggestion is that I contact Nashua's porting department?

Does anyone know how quickly I can port back?

I would suggest you first contact Vodacom and ask them to check for the same problem that pop24 had ( Something not deleted within their systems ). If no luck, try MTN again. Also i would recommend posting a complaint on www.hellopeter.com

Hope you get this problem sorted out.

Get hold of Nashua.

Find out who the head of their porting department is.

Explain how this is critical to your business and you need it fixed NOW.

Avoid the general call centre at all costs.

PM me if there is anything I can do.

I contacted Nashua who were most unhelpful. They said the porting department doesn't have a phone (?) and can only be e-mailed by them. They opened (another) file reference and said someone would call me within 2-24 hours.

To anyone who may consider porting..... DONT.

Thanks for all comments and suggestions. I'm trying them all.

Hi, i ported on the 31st.. As I am here right now, BOTH OF MY SIM CARDS.. Vodacom and MTN are active with the same number. Some of my calls and SMS's are going to one while voice messages accumulate on my other card.

Same problem as you, MTN calls/sms messages are going through to the MTN and the rest go to Vodacom right now. Very strange.

If anyone has answers I would love to know what to do.
