So yesterday I finally left cell c because of the lack of throughput at home.
Unfortunately it never went as smooth as I hoped. My telkom mobile sim is losing signal too often and the overall browsing experience is on par with what cell c was, maybe even worse.

I think it is the sim card though.
I tried a different sim (Internet starter pack also purchased yesterday) and it works fine in my phone. I have a 10gb + 10gb in a different device that works well. I have 60gb + 60gb in a 3g router and that hasn't given issues over the last year.

Could a sim swop be the solution or is there anything else I should be trying first?

As the result of a good deal I gave my maid an old cellphone with a Telkom sim.

The connectivity was so bad that she purchased her own sim from NTN.

How far are you from the tower, is there line of sight. Does the router got a place for a external antenna.

The router is a tp-link mr3420 coupled with an e367 modem.
The signal from there works fine though. Not great but good enough for my use.
I used the sim currently in there in my phone and that's fine as well. Yet my sim has constant disconnects. This happens even when forced onto mtn.
Regarding distance from tower and line of site I have no clue. Didn't bother checking because other devices with telkom mobile including a phone & tablet works well.
