Porting from one MTN provider to another takes 4-6 weeks

Hi I've just been to my new MTN service provider so signup and port my number to them. However I've been told that it will take 4-6 weeks ? I thought this porting thing was only suppose to take 1day?

Does anyone have any idea how to speed this up ?

No you don't understand, I applied yesterday but the new Service provider is telling me that porting from MTN SP is taking a very long time. My contract is up how can I make sure that MTN SP don't delay the process.
