Hi All

If I am on Vodacom pre-paid, is there anything special I need to do on the Vodacom side, before I can send the SMS from my old sim to start the porting process, like a USSD code or something?

This article, seems to suggest, I can do that directly

Any downside to trying it. I don't feel like like calling the Vodacom call centre, so that they can prevent me from porting, by screwing around.

I ported from telkom to MTN.
Just bought the MTN sim card. Before putting new sim in. From your current sim, sms to the number MTN provides for porting.
Wait until you get confirmation to put new sim in.

Than you go to afrihost and sign up.
Not to sure porting to afrihost sim tho but should be similar process.

Afrihost requires an MTN sim card (either a prepaid you buy or one they supply). By a MTN sim, port your Vodacon number across, then activate Afrihost.
