I wonder if one of the guys at MTN can help, My wife has just ported from CellC to MTN and 9 times of 10 when someone tries to call her they hear a message "The service is temporarily unavailable" What is really strange is its the CellC lady saying that. If she turns her phone off (a samsung d900) and on again its fine. She can make calls with no problem.

Any ideas ?

Thanks...

what i can advise is to call the call centre (808) and log a support request. bugs do unfortunately occur and this appears to be one of them:(

*snap!* ...this makes (for me) the second time I've heard of a porting AWAY from CellC(retinous) where they took the ported number offline. When I did C-Virgin(on the ridiculous) my 084 number vanished for FIVE days, during which time callers got told 'this number does not exist'.

Oh, and it took my calling and k4kking on them every.single.day  until I got escalated to technical management level ..and it's still not entirely right, I've lost being able control my CLI; something that I've explicitly been told I HAVE, but they can't get to work.

And, I've been told by a pal who's in the trade, this can be traced back to the Cretinous ones being unable to get the job done right.

This problem is on the Cell-C network as that's where the call goes to first. So I'm not sure if 808 (MTN) can help.

There is a common forum between the operators to fix these problems.

I would have thought the bugs in the porting systems would have been sorted out by now

Maybe some of the operators just like to make it as hard to leave as possible. Then again, maybe its just incompetence. :D

It's took 24 days for vodacom and CellC to finalise the porting of one of my numbers from CellC to Vodacom.

To my knowledge Cell C may not ask you a porting fee. Only the service provider you ported to may ask you for a fee.

I will check it out if I where you... do anybody have a link to some official documentation for porting?

Been trying to port from Virgin to MTN for 10 DAYS NOW!!!

That is ten days of keeping only the minimum airtime balance, just in case it goes through, of phoning the MTN shop 3 times a day to find out whats happening, of hearing how the system shows "systems error" all the time and how, allegedly, the problem is on Virgin's side who have put a block on the number to prevent the port from happening. Heaven only knows why because it is from pre-paid to pre-paid and I ported over to them from VC more than 4 months ago.

Good one Virgin, force me to stay by not playing the game!

Seems like virgin, who pushed for MNP in the 1st place, is trying to stop their customers from porting.
