Porting wife's number from Autopage to Vodacom

Hi I'm wondering if someone can shed some light on my problem or maybe offer me an alternative solution to what Autopage suggest.

Basically, I have 2 Cell-C lines with Autopage, which they have agreed to cancel due to poor coverage. The one line is used by myself, and the other by my wife. My wife and I have now each opened our own individual accounts directly with Vodacom, and wish to keep our original numbers. My number ported across with no issues as the new and old contracts are both in my name. My wife however has a problem, in that the new contract is in her name, but her existing number is from a contract under my name, and therefore the port keeps failing.

Autopage has suggested I do a change of ownership with them for my wife's number first, and then begin the porting process again. They said that while they could alternatively request her number be ported to Cell-C prepaid, that we would then have to wait 90 days before we could port it to her new contract with Vodacom.

Unfortunately just getting a new number is not an option for my wife. Please, if anyone has any ideas of an easier way to accomplish this I would appreciate the help!

Thanks
Rick

make the thing prepaid.

then move it to VC on contract, with your wife signing there...

Why don't you port the Auto page number to prepaid then it no longer belongs to anyones contract. Then you can port it to who ever you want - might take a little longer but at least no change of ownership forms etc. but not the 90 days mentioned if i'm not mistaken you can port to any prepaid once a month so max 30 days - FOr you it would go something like Autopage to Cell C prepaid - once thats done Check with VOdacom how long it will take to move that number to a contract - like i said I bet Max 30 days (and i'm really giving you a lot of days) but no where near the 90 days mentioned

Autopage seems adamant about the 90 thing. See the reply they just sent me below:

Ok.

So if I request for the number to be converted to prepaid it will be on done by the end of this week.

Your wifes number will then be on prepaid however as per Network business rules a number can only enter another contract after 90 days if it was out of a contract.

This means your wife will be using pay as you go until that window period expires however you can ask Vodacom if they can waver that as you have a cancellation form from another network.
