Hey guys,

Just trying to get the word out on this. If you live in Plumstead (Cape Town), please be aware that there have been multiple reports of a woman in a light blue opel corsa taking people's pets. There are at least three reports doing the rounds on social networks where the woman takes the animal even when the owners try to stop her.

If you live in Plumstead and see anything suspicious, or have any information, please post it here or on the Lost Pets Southern Suburbs Facebook group.

She takes the animal even if the owners try to stop her? How pansy assed are those owners?

If someone tried to take my dog, and I was around and in a position to attempt to stop them, there is no ifs ands or buts, they would be seeing the inside of a hospital. And if I couldn't physically stop them (being too far away or whatever), it would then entail me getting in my car and chasing after them.

This sounds more like an online hoax.

There are three separate reports involving three people. Unless someone has through the effort of making and maintaining three fake profiles to add legitimacy to the haox, it's most likely real.

Some animal welfare body "rescuing" dogs loose in the street (not in enclosed yards) maybe?

In the one case the dog was stolen while the owner was away. Her nephew (a child I'm assuming) shouted at the lady to stop but she picked the dog up and put it in her car anyway. I'm not sure about the details regarding the other reports but I'll try to post it later when I have Facebook access.

But like PoisonBunny said, what are the owners doing? Is she taking them by gunpoint or something?

Possibly, if the lady is deaf so when people shout at her she can't hear them.

The owners are contacting as many of the rescue groups as possible to see if their pets have been handed in.

I'll post the details when I can later, but in the one case she seemed to take the dog from a boy shouted at her to stop after the dog wandered into the street when they left their gate open.

Any Registration Number for her vehicle? Can pass on info to neighbourhood watch in Devil's Peak/Vredehoek.
Some people steal pets for rewards and this can become a problem.

Edit: Missed your post above ^

The owners are trying to find anyone with info regarding the vehicle registration. If anything pops up I'll post here.

Hmm, we had some inconsiderate dog owners in our area who were forever leaving their gate open just "for a moment". Their mutts would then roam creating havoc by bugging dogs confined to their yards. Maybe this woman is just gatvol.

Yeah, has happened in my area..

I ended up taking the dogs to the SPCA on a Saturday evening..... forcing the owners to go to the SPCA and they were only able to retrieve them on Monday morning.... oddly enough, they've never been let out of the property again.

Copied and pasted from FB:

PLEASE HELP! My puppy was stolen from me on friday 19september her name is lady, she is a border collie mix ridge back (9months old) she is mainly black with a white chest and white paws. She also has a heartish shape on her lower chest. Last seen with a black leather studded collar. We got home from a funeral and my nephew said she got out and into the road....a blue opel corsa then stopped with two white middle aged women, one got out and picked her up...he screamed at her that it was his dog but she just looked at him and through her in the car and drove off, he is adiment she saw and heard him. This happend in casino road Plumstead at about 3pm. We've contacted all the shelters, vets, put up flyers everywhere but nothing. We also went to diep river police station but they refused to let us open us a case.
We have also just now heard of two other stories involving a white women in a blue opel corsa attempting to steal dogs in the plumstead/ souhtfield area. From what i understand is she has taken someones pugg and attempted 2steal a husky but the owner managed 2call it in time. I am trying to find all these owners and get more info on it....please put the word out we are all heart broken and i just want my best friend back!
NOTE: the car in the picture is an example....same model and same colour!

Don't have time to trawl through the backlog, but more information can be found on these pages:

Look for all I know this lady may be talking *** and the other stories of dogs that are suspected of being stolen are pure coincidence. If this is the case, nothing happens. But if it's true that there's a dog stealing syndicate at work and you live in Plumstead, it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out.

Ok, that sounds like shyte to me..

This Opel Corsa driving person who "steals" pets... just HAPPENS to be on the road just as this dog gets out.. and throwing a border collie/ridge back at 9 months old is not really possible.. they're big dogs by that stage. it would be wriggling and writhing quite a bit...

Something is missing from this story, and its something big...
