Can someone explain to me where to plug in the POTS filter (micro filter)?
I plugged it in between the handset and the telephone line but it does nothing!

Phone calls are so faint and full of static that it makes the phone practically useless.
I have to unplug my ADSL modem if I make or receive calls.

You've got it right. Could be your filter is dodgy, or your line is seriously stuffed.

Try another filter.

Erm.. it occurred to me that perhaps you might be putting the filter in between that handset and the phone base... juuust in case, it must go between the wall socket and the phone base, if you're using a bog standard telkom phone.

Lol - no I'm not that daft. :D

Maybe I bought a dud micro filter. :(
The line seems to be fine - cystal clear with the ADSL modem unplugged and good enough SNR for 1mbps.

Def a dud filter, if the noise clears up when router is off, thats a clear indication.
And isnt a handset connecter smaller than the norm rj11, so it wont fit in the filter...

Have you not maybe plugged the filter in the wrong way around. ie. is the phone connected to the filters input instead of it's output. Most filters have a small cable with a rj11 plug and a rj11 socket so it's obvious which way it goes but some filters have 2 rj11 sockets and those ones can easily be plugged in the wrong way around.
