Hey guys,

Im moving into my new place tomorrow and everything is setup (not configured for my account yet) and the previous owner took the bloody power adapters, i mean really, if you going to take the things just take the whole cable and devices as well....

anyway!!! I wanted to know where could i get the adapters for it? Should i speak to vumatel (which would mean my setup takes longer or should i just go buy the adapters?

Suppose you could ask Vumatel, but perhaps you can just go buy one.

Then send the bill to the previous owners... even if it's R50.... it's theft as that equipment belongs to Vumatel AFAIK

Just got a call from a BriteLink(guess vumatel's fibre installer or something like that) and explained the situation to them. They say that they will have to do a replacement of the unit. So i asked if i cant just go out and get a 12v 1amp power adapter (which the device states it needs) and his response was that the ONT will not work without the right power adapter in.

So you telling me that the ONT can tell the unit its getting power from?

Thats like saying your car wont work with Caltex and can only work with Engen fuel!? Either way the coming tomorrow to "reinstall" everything.

All just a waste of money in my mind.

Just test it. I doubt whether it will blow up. If it does, you need a new one anyway.

it's just a 12V DC 1.5amp "power brick".
nothing fancy.

I have one in my hand.
actually, I have 10 in my drawer.

Britelink just gets to charge their client for 1 x call-out.

meh.

Ellies multi adapter. Can set the voltage to any of the standard ones and also change the polarity. The issue here is probably the ONT and adapter comes as a set to they have no use for just giving the adapter.

The problem is the unit is only supported if used with the approved adapter. Not all adapters are created equal and there’s no reason a supplier should support a product with a PSU they never supplied.
