Poweralert Stage 3 (old news)

but is hasn't been every 5 years, it comes and goes at completely random times, that make no sense at all.
almost as if somebody sitting in lootfreely house has a magic remote, and can just push the button and cause load shedding or miraculously become a 1st world country overnight (probably when were hosting a sports event, or big conference)

this is the part I can not understand, whats REALLY going on here?
Yea my comment was more tongue-in-cheek than a realistic description of what happens.

I mean it makes sense though. Eskom is incompetent. A few generation units blow every now and then because Eskom puts them under massive strain because they couldn't maintain their way out of a paper bag. That's largely unpredictable.

EDIT: I mean the incompetence is predictable... when that incompetence results in an explosion though that's not predictable.

Well we would need that stabilised first
Indeed, but my point is about the flawed notion that our electricity is a barrier to electric car sales. The reason electric cars will never be a factor for a long time here is simply because people are too broke to buy electric cars.

But even when they are finally mainstream, we are still going to have to get past the paranoia of people wanting to charge the cars all the time, same thing we went through with the introduction of cellphones, even with an improved electricity supply, that will still be a challenge.

The comrades are very absent in this thread or any financial thread.
Bit too stupid?

So basically very little progress this year despite Eskom continuously releasing press statements saying that their maintenance plan is bearing fruit.
It's Chris, plus the EAF in the fyi 2024 was 54.5. Current is 60.855%.
What he seems to keep forgetting is that the planned maintenance was higher in Oct,Nov and Dec.
Plus the EAF is 6.3% higher than the FYI 2024. So yeah as usual he spins things his way.

Yes, when I look at those charts I see UCLF is 10% lower than it was this time last year. UCLF includes PLL, which was what the Germans said was the key performance metric to improve. They specifically dismissed EAF as not helpful. "The fixation on the EAF is a dead end", in their words.

So - now into day 3 of NO POWER in our 'hood & running my 2.5kW generator from 07h00 to 19h00 - apparently the mini-sub distribution box (the little blue one) in our street was vandalised & the circuit breakers were stolen - FFS! - now we wait for Shitty Power to 'eventually' arrive, sort it out & get us all re-connected again.

Ouch :( so it's only effecting a few houses, then :( sorry man. Know your pain

Just go find the wires and connect them. 50 million can't be wrong.
