Poweralert Stage 3 (old news)

They are not wrong.

Still the same problems exist. Lack of planning and upgrades for a growing population.

Why do they need to do anything when they can just turn you off for 5 hours as the solution.

Loadlimiting coming to you soon.

In Lupu's words: This is nothing new.
But they are doing something? This is maintenance :p the exact things people moan doesn't happen

Oh my bad, yes the maintenance thing is good and they should shut the **** up and should rather read the maintenance warning signs posted on the light poles, I was more talking about the daily loadlimiting between 6pm and 10pm and mornings.

Oh that isn't happening in the suburbs :). So not sure why people are moaning about that at all.

People are moaning 'cos they're suspicious, and who can blame them given the years of abuse we've had. But yes, the sheep haven't got a clue.

Doesn't mean there isn't smoke though.... how long before the abusers try their luck again, and get lazy too. GNU won't necessarily solve that enough.

Anyway, let's enjoy it while we can.

So... you don't want Eskom to cut off the folks stealing electricity?

Mate I don't think they're going far enough with this load reduction nonsense. They need to remove the entire bloody transformer from these theft areas and be done with it. No more service.

EDIT: oh wait you're talking about load limiting for people that actually pay for their electricity. I agree that nonsense needs to stop. They should be dragged to court to make that BS illegal.

Problem is that's going sufficiently far that it wouldn't look good politically, at least they've found some middle ground.

I never said that.

I want them to cut off the illegals and upgrade the transformers in loadlimiting areas.

I agree.

Load limiting was always sold as a way to soften the blow of loadshedding. The idea that it's consistently used to cover for poorly maintained infrastructure is unacceptable. Upgrade the infrastructure.

As to load reduction it has my support.

Yes, in real countries, you get incentives for load reduction, such as cash back or cheaper rates.

They have yet to do load limiting

Ok first time in a long time it's almost 33GW

So load shedding still after elections?

Cooler weather in Jo'burg next week BTW, and that Wed. is predicted to only reach a max of 15.
But looks like they're handling things fine for now, this thread could just about sleep until summer.

Only really update if there is some big jumps either way
