Poweralert Stage 3 (old news)

Now for the other side of the coin - individual area problems.

My brother lives in Linksfield Ridge, northern Jo'burg. I've just heard yesterday that they've been having power cuts similar to loadshedding on a daily basis as their substation is on the edge. He says it's usually worse than the attempt to schedule it.
Yeah he's on one of the load reduction zones.

Lol, I was looking at the Dec '23 list of blocks from Shitty Power, but it gets worse.... their last(?) Jan '24 "version 6" list then says it's in block 8, which also isn't a load reduction block.

Unbelievable!

But I presume your list is more recent.
Load shedding and Load reduction blocks are not the same

Load reduction is supposed to be just for those areas that are largely not paying, last I heard. More lies then?
Sadly that area is right next to areas that don't pay :-(

I mean look at that EAF keep going down

Ah memories, first Xmas and new years eve with Load Shedding

Though I mean to be fair Xmas was only till 5am, so we had the 25th 5am to 5am no shedding
Was surprised that 2023 was so much better.

New weirdness been going on at my house for the last few weeks. Some days, especially when hot, it looks like we get less power.
Freezers aren't cold enough. Maybe microwave needs a bit longer, certainly doesn't sound right.
And then the toaster - needs at least 50% further toasting even at full blast. Yet in the beginning it sometimes burnt the toast.
And two fans we use, you can hear the change in pitch on both of them.

It's a sensitive substation, went down again last week for about 14 hours. So possible they're trying to somehow throttle it and aircons in the area have an effect (we don't use one).

Haven't checked the voltage flow, no point really. Anyway I think they're throttling the current.
