Even if all the money have been stolen?
20 Years?
So they have decided to do absolutely fsckall going forward, no new plants, nothing, what a surprise.
Do we really want to let Eskom build new Medupi and Kusiles though?Yea.. now Eskom can go back to doing fckall...
20 years... HOLY Fcking ****. That is insane...
Power ships are also heavy air polluters (I’ve read 2 EIA reports one specifically for Richards Bay) and I suspect there will be environmental challenges to these, else the air quality in Port Elizabeth (Coega) and Richards Bay will severely impacted.

I agree sketchy as ****. It's like an addict saying give me 20 years to get sober.I've got no issue at all with the idea of bringing in these power ships to plug the hole in our generation capability, but a 20 year contract...that's a tad concerning.
Was this not a Department of Mineral Resources and Energy decision?R450 billion in debt. Add another R200+ billion. That de Ruyter really is a great businessman.
10.9 billion a year over 20 years, I worked it out to 1.27 per kWh excluding fuel and transmission @ availability of 80%, how this makes sense?????
No idea. I just assumed an electricity thing is Eskom. If the department took the decision, is the department paying for it too?Was this not a Department of Mineral Resources and Energy decision?
Im a bit sceptical of the private sector providing necessities, but in this case I agree. There is NO saving Eskom. EVER.Exactly... we need private power suppliers. Eskom is just a black hole swallowing money... like ANC.
