Lets face it - this whole thing has exploded in their faces.
And it is impossible to sweep it under the carpet.
Good luck in:
1) Cancelling the contract and getting 100% payments back.
2) Replacing the locomotives with anything but a Chinese version.
It is doom and gloom waiting for us.

Shame, Lucky Montana wants his name removed from the SCA judgement, saying he was not given the chance to present his side of the story: https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/...oved-from-prasa-tall-trains-judgment-20181201

Yes but the Constitution of the Republic dictates that even a “thief” from Mamelodi or SOWETO like me has the inalienable right to put his side and defend himself. This is at the heart of the principle of natural justice and fairness. The SCA failed that fundamental test today.

Firstly it's not your money it's our money and secondly you should all be fired, from top and all executives and charges laid.
Nothing will happen. The were all learning, especially the "Chief" and "Consulting" engineers, all with awesome educational and struckl credentials.

We need an African solution: Smaller wheels. ;)
Great! How about a political solution to an engineering problem. The engineers who approved it are to design the wheels. But only if they are bleck.

Isn't this another good example that the BBBEE system is flawed? Who in their right mind would award a contract, worth billions, to an inexperienced contractor? :(
Nah, it's working as intended. It's not about the end product but all about the kickback. :sneaky:

Bet none of the goons that scored from this fiasco have faced justice.

GRAVY TRAINS

Come on Baby, do the Locomotion: Prasa’s too-tall trains under the hammer

In 2012, South African rail officials embarked on a disastrous R3.5bn drive to source new locomotives through a front company set up specifically for the huge contract. Court judgments have found the deal was steeped in corruption and bid-rigging, while the machines were unfit for South African lines. Thirteen of the Afro4000 locomotives are now set to be auctioned without ever being put into use by their hapless owner, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa.

The website of WH Auctioneers advertises a slightly unusual set of items for one of its upcoming auctions.

Among the usual list of farms, residential properties and vehicles that are due to go under the hammer are 13 light-blue Afro4000 locomotives bearing the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa’s (Prasa) name and logo.

Since the scandal came to light in 2015, the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) have on several occasions indicated that their “investigation” into the matter was progressing well. Four years later, however, none of these probes appear to have left the station.

I'm guessing that Vossloh / Stadler will buy them back at a fraction of what they are worth.
