Pre-orders for new iPad launched in South Africa

Boy, I wish they would just give us a 128GB one at say R6999. But really glad they finally moved up from 64GB!

128GB 8th gen is R7999 (or R7499 on special occasionally at Incredible), so doubt you would ever get a 9th gen 128GB at R6999.

True.. and the cpu is the same family, ie A12 vs A13 .. very similar hence even the marketing msg was very iffy. How fast it? Still faster than competitor? Uh?

Only deficit is the selfie camera.

Id wait a bit for the new models and then pick up a nice discount if possible on last years one.

Wrt the iPad I am wondering if I get kid a iPad Mini or this standard/edu IPad.

On the one hand cost saving, on the other hand lightening port vs usb-c with wife and I changing phones this and/or next year(so she will be like me, using contactless and most other devices are now usb-c or micro). The usb-c port makes the longer service life possible given afforded compatibility.. lighting(usb2) is a dying product.

Kindly get with the times. Pre-orders has been a thing for a long time. Most stuff can be pre-ordered these days.
Why is SA iStore more expensive and slower to receive stock, overseas already had stock and sold out. Might as well import as it's cheaper and available quicker.

Core Group just exploit the market with their exclusivity with their poor after sales service unfortunately and the usual monopoly on after sales service (giving consumers grief to honour imported items warranty). Unlike Dell which has an international warranty irrespective of where you buy.

I have no Core affiliation, just saying pre-orders is a thing. The latest and greatest graphics cards were available mostly pre-order. The latest and greatest consoles was available on pre-order.

As for why Core charges more, its called business. To pay their staff and to pay for their facilities they need to add markup. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean the overhead doesn't exist. At the end of the day if you don't like the prices no one is forcing you to buy from them.

You do know Core doesn't get it at consumer prices, right? They buy wholesale and there is already a margin baked in, they are just adding even more margin because they can, they have exclusive rights.
