The thing is that its actually bloody sad that we have to "Top Up" our internet with prepaid cards

I dont think anyone else in the world would have the same thing, and would probably laugh at us for having to do it

Uncapped! but only 64k... Otherwise If I did get Telkom Pre-paid is still stupid... no offence and all but with telkom only giving 1GB a month is like a crime :(

SolConnect's DSLBoost provides shaped, unshaped, or local-only SAIX bandwidth that never expires and the more you buy the less you pay!

10 GB shaped pre-paid costs only R599 (R59.90 per GB) and it never expires so if I made it last 10 months (ha ha) it would only cost me R59.90 per month.

Their pre-paid unshaped SAIX bandwidth is reasonably priced at R109 per GB or less for larger bundles.

How come the little guys never get mentioned in these articles? Seems like the authors of these articles don't do enough research to ensure that we are properly informed of all our options.

I use axxess it works well, just when I bought it I struggled at the Engen cos nobody had a clue what bandwidth meant. They must all come from first world countries:D

Well .. technically it's throughput you're buying, not bandwidth.

Based on the sorry state of that website, I would be reluctant to buy from them dude ;)

After leaving iBurst, I carefully selected and analyzed my requirements. I found a 512kb ADSL line outperforms my iBurst. So that is what I got.

Important to me was no contract, especially with new players in the market every few months and drastically varying levels of service within the same company. Nobody could hold me to ransom.

After reading the forums for hours, I ended up at Axxess. Initially I needed a lot of support as things were not working as it should. However, after Telkom did extensive re-cabling, no more calls were necessary. (Apologies Axxess for the 23H30 call when Telkom flaked out the Friday evening, a sincere thanks for your patience and willingness to help)

I tailored a package for myself, buying 3GB's (R209.00) shaped per shot and a small month to month contract of 1GB local bandwidth for Linux updates. After a few months I will be tweaking this to a prepaid to get the flexibility of carryover, even if at R2,00 more at R15 vs R17 rand.

This works extremely well with VPN's which I use a lot, unlike before, unlike my previous ISP, where I ended up driving to a client on more than one occasion.

The only thing I do not understand is why 3GB is R2,00 more expensive than 3 x 1GB - not serious though, just curiosity ;)

If maybe not the cheapest (by a negligible amount), I do not think I could ask for better based on my requirements and have no intention of changing anything currently.

I believe we have reached a rock bottom level in the smaller prepaid market, that is why prices are so similar. As such the only differentiators are the service levels in this market.

What's wrong with their website? It's better than a lot of others I've seen. Plus you can easily purchase online with instant activation. I have had nothing but a good experience with their website. You sure you went to the right website?

I once had access to an uncapped account through a guy who hacked it off a router. The guy has since been busted by the police for another hacking and raping somebodies 1 gig account.

I never had an ADSL line at that time so gave the account to a friend of mine who then "downloaded the planet" with it. Eventually one month somebody must have looked at the download meter and then changed the password. He only got around 40Gb that last month... and now he is living overseas where bandwidth isn't an issue and uncapped is a way of life...

Moral of the story, there is nothing sweeter than uncapped.
