Benefits of going with either?

For the purpose of this I'm using a Galaxy S5 priced @R7525 from the Orange online shop and a term of 24 months.
I'm using 24 months because that's more or less how long I would keep it for. Obviously if I kept the phone for longer it would spread out the cost.

Pre Paid

R7525 / 24 = R313.54pm
Then you must still add monthly airtime.
This seems to me the most expensive? Depending on airtime usage of course.

Post Paid

R399 on Smartplan 100.

Hybrid

Buy phone prepaid = R313.54pm
Get the R149 Smartplan deal from Telkom
Total = R462.54

From what I can tell, the contract seems about the best option? If you stay within the package limits.

This is just an example, as I'm looking to get a Sony Z3 Compact when it comes out and then have to decide with which option to go with.

Any views regarding using prepaid over contract etc?

If I've missed anything please comment, as I'd like to make the most informed decision possible :)

Thanks!

Once bitten twice as shy. Contract sim cards arr dangerous and to make a call more expensive due to the easy finance (open not top up). Fact a friend signed a contract and I told her to go the top up route she didn't listen to me and come month end her contract bill came to around R4500 next month R8k.

Prepaid = controlling your spending. Contract = getting nailed hard unless you willing to throw the card away..
