Hi all

Me moved into a new house.

We have a Landis+Gyr PLC CIU Mk3 interface unit.

I have entered "i0000" and then it shows me a number. This number seems to be incorrect/incomplete since online banking won't accept it.

I phoned City Power and they tell me that I need a card or an old slip.

The previous tenant didn't leave this card behind.

Any advice on how I need to proceed to get the meter number?

Thanks. 20200216_155809.jpeg

Try code "000"..

extract from manual:

6.2 Meter Number (Register 000) The meter displays the unique identity number personalised at the time of manufacture. It must match the number printed on the meter’s front panel label. NB: This number excludes the manufacturer code (“07” in the case of Cashpower meters manufactured in South Africa), check-digit (last digit of the serial number label) and leading zeros of the meter number. For example, meter number 07 0286 6860 1 will be displayed as 286 6860.

Go look on the meter itself (not the the ciu)

Hi jhart first you need to type i024 this will give you the first two digits of your meter number and the last digit of your meter number then you can type in i000 this will give you the digits in between Normally in South Africa the first two digits will be 07 but rather use i024 to make sure.

Exert from the manual
The extended meter number displays the missing three digits of an (Sts only) meter numbering the format ,07——n where 07 is the manufacturer code (07 for South African manufactured meter)
n represents the check digit.

Thank you! All of your suggestions worked. I'm sorted. Just wish that City Power had the same knowledge. Such a simple process if you know...

Thanks again.

Now the next step is getting it into your name, apparently I've got to go to Booysens to do so, yet I live in Roodepoort. So for the last two years it's been in someone elses name, even though I've gone to City power to change it.

RTFM is becoming a lost competency.
But at the same time, the stupidity of the system and how it is run and supported by municipalities is disgusting.
As to getting access to the actual meters? That is also not guaranteed. In CT for example, it is impossible because the meters are all inside locked cabinets not accessible by anyone except the Council.
